I actually loved GoW3, thought it was great. A pretty strong case could be made for me being a GoW fanboy and I probably wouldn't fight that title too hard so there is all that to consider when I talk. But GoW2 is pretty much the pinnacle of dumb hack 'n slash gaming for my tastes.

Bought Max Payne 3 over the weekend. I'm stupid for doing so as I actually don't like shooters at all...but I tend to like Rockstar games and I guess I fell for the hype a bit. So I was hoping there was something else to it that would reel me in, but there was not. Some of my boredom with it was also because I worked on Fear 1 and 2 (which heavily use bullet time...essentially copied off of Max Payne 1-2), so I have definitely played enough fucking bullet time in my life. I thought there'd be SOMETHING different with it that they'd bring to the table, but it was same shit

1) press right stick to enter bullet time
2) HEADSHOTS BRO!
3) Maybe do a flying leap to achieve same effect
4) Next fucking room, rinse/repeat
5) Cinematic

And HOLY SHIT the "squiggly screen effect" that they are constantly overlaying over it is pure dogshit. It's not edgy, it sucks. I thought that'd go away after a little bit...but after 4 hours they were still doing it.

SO...that game was a wash (But I'm sure it's awesome if you like shooters). Took it back and got Prototype 2 instead, which is much more my style. I enjoyed Prototype 1 quite a bit and this seems like they fixed a lot of the issues I had with that game. It does kinda suck that it does the "play as a new character...and relearn all the powers you got in the first game" thing, but they are different enough where I'm okay with it.

at first I thought the player character was the antagonist and I was like "fuck yeah, I get to scare and kill the shit of people". Disappointing to find that wasn't the case. Still looks cool.

I watched a stream a while back of people playing and it looked pretty cool. Cool stuff like fixing up broken down cars so you can ride around the HUGE map, searching around abandoned cities for supplies, fighting other players for their supplies or teaming up with them, then of course the zombies.

I was checking Day Z last night - It looks pretty cool. Arma II is pretty nuts also.

I just played through Sniper V2 which was surprisingly fun for a throw away weekend hire type of game.

I just started playing through it again recently, and I know it got a lot of hate on here (also a lot of love), but I think it's might be my one of my favorite gaming experiences for a single player game. I just loved the scenery, the character, and the open ended gameplay. I know GTA has the same thing, but it felt so much different to me. I could just head to Tall Trees and hunt for an hour or so and have a blast.

that game is absolutely stunning. i don't even really get the GTA vibe from it. like jacking cars and acting like a retard, that kind of stuff. i just explored the world and went hunting, and helped damsels in distress. that kind of stuff was so much fun. a nice change from shooting RPGs at cops to get the army to come after you

they tried something new in a game for once and i give them props. i thought it was a decent twist on your average, normal video game ending. well, the last hour or two anyways.

Even still I was playing with the surround sound on in the dark and riding along some trail and heard the roar of a cougar who instantly killed my horse, I still jumped like a fucking pussy. It's always so surprising.

Red Dead Redemption is a great game with slightly poor pacing once you get to Mexico. Never did finish it though and wish it got a PC port.

yeah, story wise it definitely dips when it gets to Mexico, but it gets better.

always going to be one of the best games on the 360/PS3
