You say that as if it's a compliment...

Beverly Hills Cop - 9
Yeah, I do. I think they are often tackling near R-rated subject matter and considering that's that kind of comedy I like to watch, I appreciate it.
I like some sugar-sweet comedies, but mostly laugh-track style, PG primetime stuff does absolutely nothing for me.

I couldn't get into Big Bang Theory either and everyone says that's great too.
Just seemed like an average sitcom with geek humor...big deal.

Danny Devito crawling naked out of from inside of a sofa? Now that's fucking funny.

Contagion - 9/10 for Matt Damon's courageous decision to let his horrible patchy facial hair grow out. He's an inspiration to me.

Hesher - movie: 7/10, Hesher (the character): 10/10

Went in fully prepared to the hate the fuck out of this but it turned out to be pretty damn good. Joseph Gordon-Levitt fucking crushes it but the rest of the movie falls pretty squarely in the "good" range.

sunshine 9.5/10

rapidly becoming one of my all-time favorite movies. transcendent. bonus points for not actually using sigur ros in the soundtrack
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Super 8/10

The more I'm thinking about it, the better it becomes. Probably the most "realistic" superhero movie there is, several hilarious/ cruel scenes, Ellen Page in a super hero costume raping a fat middle aged dude and plenty of other fucked up stuff.

Melancholia - 9.3

Not a fan of Dunst, whatsoever.. especially here, but the movie looked so fucking beautifully amazing. Then there's the music, the atmosphere and the subject matter itself.. it was a complete home run for me. Most of you will hate it, but then again, most of you are idiots. Lars Von Trier wins again

I just scoot my sofa right up to the HDTV!

Actually, there is some annoying concern with the main arthouse theater here - although they get all sorts of awesome stuff, there's a chance you'll be stuck in a tiny-ass house with a piece of shit projector so worthless you can see the pixels. I'm a bit nearsighted... I should NEVER see a goddamned pixel after having paid money. This is how The Man Who Fell to Earth was, it was so obnoxious. I doubt the megaplex is going to pick this one up so the sofa-scoot might actually be my best bet.
