I don't understand it either. I think he left something out of the opening word-salvo... it took me a few watches before I realized he's revising the premise every few words instead of summarizing the whole thing upfront, and then giving finer detail.

He also says that there could be multiple answers, and I'm not sure how to square that with what seems like... fatal, linear math output...
