6/10. I was really excited about this after all the good reviews. A bit of a letdown... too much grapefruit. Almost tastes like a shandy.

Totally disagree.
8.5/10

I dunno if this is an accurate rendition of American hop flavourings as I haven't drunk many USA brewed beers as they're usually a bit average - But this was my jam all summer and I like it a lot

Well are you gonna rate it?

I had a fancy fuck dinner tonight and ordered a 2006 Aventinus. All the best things of doppelbock, but the age took off the 8% alcohol edge. Smelled like pastry, allspice, and caramel. Tasted a lot of dried fig and toast, with a bit of clove on the back end. Very well balanced and susceptibly drinkable. The price was the only thing stopping me from tying one on with this one.

9.5/10 - one of the best beers I've ever had.

So I began "cellaring" ( the cupboard in my kitchen) at least one beer from a pack whenever I buy a high anything with a high abv or that's bottle conditioned. It's fine for the cool months, but it gets a little hot in the summer here with no a/c. Is throwing them in the fridge during the summer going to disrupt anything much with the aging process?

The beer (500ml) was $24. Expensive for a beer but to be honest i thought it was very reasonable. The regular cost $14, which seems standard restaurant markup from the $8 it costs at the bodega. A $10 charge to have someone store it properly for 9 years is fair. Plus it likely knocks the socks off of any wine by the glass for about the same price.

Don't think I've ever had an aged Aventinus. Interesting....

On a recent visit to hang with some family I brought a 2012 Deschutes Dissident. Was beyond amazing and I found out the next day that shops who still have any in stock are selling them for $50.

That fucking rules man.

I agree with the price, quite reasonable considering the vintage and putting it up against a half carafe of some shit ass pinot grigio for the same amount of bux. I may have to pop into this joint, payday is on Wednesday and it's on my ride back :awesome:

I saw dudes without them, definitely not required for the bar area.

I'd love to start a beer cellar. I have a shitty 12 bottle wine cooler that would work, but I don't trust myself to not drink a beer I bought for 2+ years. No way they don't become victim to some blackout drunk dumb idea.

Maybe it's my old age but in the last 3-4 years I've been cellaring quite a few beers and I've only had one time where drunk me took one out when I didn't really need to. In the last 6 months it got to the point that I was worried I had some that might be beyond their age. Luckily none that I've opened have gone bad at all. Hell, out of the 2 sixers of Westvleteren 12 that I bought in December 2012, I still have 6 left. My cellar beers are always for sharing with family/friends.

Uh huh. So how do you address the temperature control issues?
