Finished Dead Space 2 today. It's really about as good as it could've possibly been. Doesn't quite have the same atmosphere as the first one and the final boss battle sucks, but basically everything else is better. More variety in the environments, in enemy types, in mechanics, and the level design is really, really smart. It's really superior to the first one in some ways.

I also got the third one because it was practically free so I'll probably give that a shot next, but... well... I think I know one person who didn't hate it?

obviously you guys missed the superb pedigree of Supermassive Games or you wouldn't be talking such nonsense, critical and popular hits such as:

Walking With Dinosaurs
Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock
Start the Party: Save the World
Tumble

all signs point to Until Dawn > HL2

NOPE. 100% with Copstache here-- lazy and fucking banal. Horror via focus group. "Our researchers tell us is we do 40% 80s slasher movie tropes with 50% Saw and perhaps a touch of The Ring we achieve horror!".

Super fucking dumb and uninteresting thus far.
As for me, I don't recall ever showing any interest in that genre of game here. I don't hide, I take the fight to fools!

Looks like I'll be playing Undying with a controller... without auto aim? Let the blood bath begin.

Let's not simply overlook your habit of drunkenly ordering every game ever released, Bill.

Or your endless championing of Resident Evil 6, Geoff.

While he is over exaggerating us, there's is no doubt we have a history of being a couple of jerks. Can it be coincidence that we both had to deal with Angus pissing himself in our respective abodes?

Annnd Origin has deleted my Crysis 2 cloud save. I guess that means I have to go into full-blown autism mode and replay the game for the 234536453th time.

Well, regardless, got NOLF up and running ( I can store the PS2 version in the attic ) with controller support with widescreen and all the bells & whistles possible. While researching how to get it to run on my TV it looks like this game has big problems on Win 7 and on. Glade I still have the XP beast. Seriously thinking about playing & beating this then going back to GTA V. My favorite games are my favorite.

Despite what I said a few pages back, I can't stop playing Destiny and will 100% be buying the next game. Once I started acquiring and getting drops of legendary and exotic loot, it is what I imagine being a junkie or compulsive gambler feels like. I'm not even sure when I will go back to finish up Dragon Age.

i dont really remember the combat from the first, but i think it felt more D&D based? (not like i know anything about that at all though)

you went to attack someone, hit X on their player, and your character did the rest. this one felt too action-y. hold down R2, repeat, hit square, hold R2, wait for square to cooldown

i dunno. and maybe it's just too goddamn big. too much freedom leads to watered down quests and not enough focus

already moved onto the binding of isaac

Speed runners?! Fuck speed runners! If I made a game the dead last people I'd give a shit about is speed runners. I can't believe they would even enter your mind. Fucking speed runners.

Want to make an older PC harder (No One Lives Forever) Play it with a controller before they started adding aim assist. Every fire fight has become a test in tactics and old school strafing madness. That's not to say I'm not scoring the head shots and the controls are bad. It's just different and a hell of a lot harder. I like it. When I replayed Half-Life over a year ago I felt that time finally caught up to it and my enjoyment wasn't what it used to be. NOLF has yet to feel this way out side of obvious date graphics & models. It's humor is still the best. All the same, I don't think I can play this & drink the booze as well. You have to be way too precise and on the ball. This will be my weekday gaming game and I'm happy for it.

probably because it's not actually worse or more embarrassing than the rest of his life.
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
his dad committed suicide because he found out otacon was fucking his wife/otacon's stepmother. his stepsister almost died trying to save him (otacon's dad). just as they reunite and possibly start to make up, she gets killed.

the only person in the world who was nice to him (sniper wolf) was killed by the person who saved his life (snake).

later when he fell in love with someone who actually loved him back (naomi), she promptly committed suicide

Is that faggot supposed to be the same guy who gets sick in Shadow Moses Island in the first Solid game?

Well, was fiddling some more with the PC. Now have Rune up and running beautifully. Why does this game from 2000 look better than Dark Souls 2 on the 360? Goddamnit! I have plans to see if I can get a few more game up and running in full HD, with widescreen and any enhanced graphics (texture packs rule). I think I'm going to do a major nostalgia PC run this year. Get every last drop out of the games that run great on XP, because once I get a new PC they might not run right.

Problem, though. Not sure anyone can help. I plugged my headphones into the PC and sometimes it works right, but usually there's no sound in the left speaker. It's not the headphones, not at all. I upgraded the sound card drivers (SB X-Fi), but it works perfect through the TV speakers. It will run great then for seemly no reason just stop working. Damn shame, because the sound card does magical stuff like making the sound pristine, bassy, and a near perfect 3D surround sound inside my skull. I can get almost the same effect if I listen to the PC through the TV via the headphones, but it's not quite as good. Also, the TV headphone output is just too far so I need to get a headphone extension wire now. I tried cleaning the headphone slot, but nothing works and nothing makes sense. It's not like the insert jack moved or twists and that cuts out the sound, it just stops and then I'm lucky if it works again. It's completely random when this happens. I was thinking of trying the Sony Golds out with it, but these expensive headphones I bought in the summer just trounce them. Huge sound difference, no exaggeration.

Drank some beers and now rocking hard to Def Lepard as it rains after a mission in GTA V. My moment of zen.

 one of my favorite memories early on in GTA5 was driving around downtown at night when it was raining listening to that Robert Plant song that's in the game. that game can create so much atmosphere through pure chance. can't wait to try out the next gen version, if I ever freaking beat FC4 or DA:I

Never played peace walker. And I have it on that HD collection. Guess I should give it a chance.

Playing through MGS1 for the first time is still up there with one of the greatest video game experiences of my life. I was in college and my housemate and I went in halfsies on a ps1 because neither of us had been playing games for a few years. We got Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid and would just get stoned and pass the control at night and on weekends until the games were beat. MGS1 was so fucking cool and weird and different. And being baked the first time you go up against Psycho Mantis was fucking awesome. I thought my buddy was going to cry

peace walker is fantastic, such a great design to the game. the only problem is that the controls are way dated (was originally a PSP game with one analog stick). you can't move when prone, etc.

that why i'm so hype for MGS5. new visuals + controls + peacewalker design parts
