I’ve played Brutal Doom and Project Brutality. Both are awesome but I never did complete the campaign with the mods. Always stopped around the fourth maps. I should rectify that after I beat either Eternal or 64. I also seem to have caught the DOOM bug.

i'm playing 64 now

2016 was spotty in some places and not perfect but it was almost miraculously awesome in other places

and yeah doom 1 and 2 are perfection. the older i get the more perfect the maps become in my mind

Never played Brutal Doom or Doom 3. I played the PC versions of the first two a lot, the Playstation one, and then ZDaemon for a while. So my memory may be a bit hazy at this point, but from what I remember of the classic Doom games, Eternal's definitely in the same spirit, and I probably just didn't play 2016 enough to remember that that's what Doom is supposed to be like.

As if I haven’t already bitten off more than I can chew I started replaying Half-Life 1 with some upgraded textures. I had played most of Black Mesa earlier in the year, and Black Mesa really just comes off as one of those lousy big budget Hollywood remakes of great film that did not to be (nor should have been) remade in the early 2Ks. HL just smokes BM in everything except graphics. And even then Half-Life’s lack of graphical clutter is a pro.

I enjoyed Doom eternal and now it seems appropriate to play Division 2 and I’m not hating it

I played the FFVII remake demo for a bit today. I dunno. Maybe I'll get this if they make a PC version that doesn't run at fucking 20 FPS and I can get it for maybe 30 $bux tops. I guess I should add that the only FF game I ever played was XIII, which I sort of enjoyed in the same way you enjoy a mobile game and then eventually lose interest without ever getting anywhere. It'd probably help if I had played at least some of this stuff when I was a kid and the dumb weeby melodrama hadn't bothered me. I'm pretty sure that's why I can tolerate it in the MGS games.

FFVII & RE3 remake can wait for a Steam sale at this point.

Getting further into Doom Eternal, got the He-Man sword. Dear God, Archvilles can fuck off. It all makes me want to replay real Doom. Maybe a Brutal Doom run through is in order.

Half-Life is god so far. Please let Xen be disappointing but forgivable. I remember things about it...

Fooled around with NES Duck Tales. It fun and cute but memories betray it’s excellence.

Apparently everyone hates the Marauders the most, but I don't really get that. Noticing everyone's buffed and having to run around in a blind panic looking for the Archvile is definitely worse.

What amuses me to no end is that Doomguy can literally launch himself through a space artillery cannon, but getting headbutted by a zombie kills him.

Just run up to the Archvile and crucible him in half. That's what you have it for.

Anyway, I just finished it today. Last boss fight is definitely retarded, I don't know how anyone beats this without sentinel armor. I mean, I'm going to watch some speedrunner do it on Ultra Nightmare without taking any damage later today I'm sure, but it's really just ridiculous. Everything else about the game is fucking fantastic, though.

I also decided to install Doom 2016 again and give that another shot. It's really kind of funny how subdued it seems compared to Eternal.

As the game gets harder, the player needs to use the advantages of fight arenas and their bonuses smarter.
this bad sentence appears on the wiki for doom eternal - can someone who knows the game propose a correction? this MUST be fixed imho

hahaha who knows

I just wrote and accidentally deleted a big thing - here goes shitty v2.0

I'm so happy to be playing cuphead at long last, and I just learned about the accusations of racism in the game (this piece basically claims it's "whitewashing" for the game not to include the overtly racist imagery  ), which seem completely overblown considering the game (of course the gamergate backlash is out of control too). but! the first trailer they released had some problematic character designs (see the 0:13 devil and especially the minstrel-bat that follows) that they updated/scrapped by the trailer the following year. so the game had some sketchy imagery initially, and I bet some twitter SJW loudmouth is responsible for them steering things in the right direction!

anyway I love that game. I somehow feel like I am "good" at it even though I have died 500+ times so far. but it is hard! ableist, even

Doom Eternal and Super C done. I think Super C is that rare NES game that’s better than the arcade version.

Slight amendment as I go full autism on Doom Eternal: I forgot to mention that about 90% of the platforming can go choke on a cock, and that applies doubly to anything involving diving.

Actually I've always hated underwater parts in games. There seriously isn't a single game where I haven't hated it. It never works and I don't know why people keep putting it in their games.

Anyway, I'm working my way up the difficulty levels and I'm very much afraid I'll end up attempting an Ultra Nightmare playthrough eventually. Can't play anything else at the moment.

2016 relied too heavily on spawning monsters for my taste, that's one of the only things i'd change. the difficulty right before nightmare was brutal in only a few places. the maps could be hit or miss but they generally improved over the course of the game. cant wait to play eternal.

Welp... Eternal has a lot of that. The majority of the levels are structured as a series of shooting arenas that often have several waves of enemies spawning in, especially later in the game.

Ff7 remake was interesting. If you have nostalgic feelings for the original its a must play cause they just absolutely fucking nailed recreating some of the old scenes. If you didnt grow up with the original, dont bother. All the new characters/side quests are uniformly awful. Gameplay mechanics and graphics are super outdated in some spots. Some of the Npcs look just as bad as ME Andromedas did, not sure why nobodys yelling at square like they yelled at bioware.

Doom eternal was kind of exausting. The platforming sections were bad and the levels frustratingly long. The shooting and movement were top notch, but i was ready for it to be over at the end. Id had enough.

Re3 remake was disappointing after the re2 remake. Just really short and low on atmosphere. Still fun for what it was though.

I wish there was a new bethesda rpg out. Im craving a sandbox go everywhere time waster that they are the best at. I thought about jumping into 76 again but this would be my 3rd attempt. Love the world but the survival mechanics piss me off where I quit and some stuff cant be done unless youre playing with other people and fuck that. I might replay 4 but thats always been my least favorite bethesda game. Something about the world and quests leaves me totally cold. Will probably just play skyrin again for the 1000th time.
