To be fair though, there have been studies that show athletes exhibit a certain kind of intelligence, they are often just ignorant of politics, economics etc, because it doesn't interest them or matter to them. A lot of racists give black people a hard time because of the age-old stereotype that we're always fed, but Basketball is supposed to have some brilliant effects on the brain in terms of quick thinking.
Many Intellectuals have brains that are slow but powerful, they may also have poor diet which will effect thinking speed, whereas sporty types have good diets and have to think fast a lot.
