SSDI = like $600/month, which pays rent/utilities, phone, and any payday loans...often leaving me with less than $100 for other stuff for the month. i work very, very few hours right now so the decrease in my happiness over the necessary period of time is not a sacrifice i want to make to go to mdf. i've SEEN many of the bands i would want to see this year, or i will BE SEEING the ones i haven't and want to at some point...

i don't really have a whole lot to jump in on with music sometimes, i'm not really hypercritical so at most you'll just see some lame acknowledgement of something I'm digging -- easily overlooked, I understand.

AS I said earlier in this very thread, I believe, Portal, Captain Cleanoff, Coalesce, and Converge are all going to be in Portland in like ONE WEEK during may, there will be other shows in the months before/after -- portland gets hit pretty hard with good shows. i'm not really into being around large groups of gross metalheads for extended periods of time these days. That alone is enough for me to not want to leave town/spend money on this creepy trip. bands playing mdf i've seen before-eyehategod, coffins, verbal abuse, capitalist casualties, stormcrow, many more.

i don't know what you're trying to prove, but it's obviously just in the spirit of being a dick and you should try to be better than that.

p.s. im particularly offended, because i go to shows alone often enough...i prefer not to, but i do. when i was growing up in st. charles, i would pay like $100+ round trip for a cab to go see fucking $10 shows downtown or in east st. louis because there was no public transit, and i didn't have friends that liked the same stuff as much as i did. i didn't talk to a single person at these shows, most of the time.

also, i don't go to crust shows exclusively, not sure where you got that. there are a lot of people that go to shows that don't really seem to adhere to any one "scene" or genre, it's pretty great. just...people, liking music, being civil.

I've been fucking around with guitar/bass for probably a decade now, but I never got very good -- I've always had this sort of mindset where if i can't be the BEST at something, i will barely even try...I also have SEVERE anxiety issues that prevent me from just starting a shit band for fun, i don't know. the older i get, the more i realize it's just something i'll have to do and get out of the way, even if i end up being that insane 35 year old bag of shit that can't play an instrument worth a damn wobbling around unaware of anything but the blinding light at the end of the tunnel...but yeah, thanks for your suggestions umesh, but you never really seem to offer anything i haven't already been dwelling on for ages....hahahahha...
