Need help finding out what movie this is...

One of the managers I work with is really into zombie flicks. There's this movie he saw between the years of 74' and 78' and he remembers a scene from the very end of it but doesn't know the title of it. The scene starts where this dude is trying to convince this cop that this girl is a zombie. The dude then throws this girl into a fire, then the cop shoots the dude in the chest maybe 5 or 6 times. He dies, then comes back to life as a zombie and attacks the cop. That's all he told me. Any help would be great.
