c'mon, chad. speak for yourself.

I loved undertow and aenima as a kid (though mostly undertow) and before I knew what Tool was all about, I respected them.

Danny Carey is an undeniably great drummer, their songs kinda rule to a point.

Tool's 'prison sex' is still one of my top songs ever. untoppable, really great, in fact. listen to this and tell me it's not a great song.

I've seen Tool three times. They were great the first two times, and kind of meh the third time, even though they covered a Ramones song for their opening tune. It was 2001, and I think Joey Ramone had just died. I'm almost certain they played "Commando." Anyways, by that point their theatrical shit was more important than their music... All kinds of really cheesy stage props and light show crap happened starting about midway through the show.... the first thing I thought of was fucking Spinal Tap...

like the band alright, though. Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus are all albums I still put on and enjoy. Especially Aenima.

Yes, quite an intellectually stimulating band indeed. I quite often listen to Tool whilst reading Baudrillard. Yes...quite...hmmmm....

Opiate and even Undertow (though I still like about half the songs) haven't aged as well as Aenima. That is their classic, Bill Hicks samples and all. Unfortunately the last 2 don't match up either. Still wouldnt mind seein em live, maybe with Meshuggah opening again.

the Undertow era is when they were a great band...although, if you wanna talk songs to take a massive bong hit to...or even just a shot...or a plunge of heroin...the first hit of this track is truly, truly unstoppable...

btw, that's one of the most evil things I've ever seen.

so...don't listen to this evil band. instead of them, I'd recommend John Denver:

They have a strange habit of having bands open for them that are much better than they are. For this, I respect.

the occult shit is to give idiot money-payers an aesthetic and some mystery to get behind. think "paul is dead"

tool pretty much just makes fun of their hardcore fans, as near as i can tell.

seen 'em thrice. 2 shows were pretty damn phenomenal, performance wise. 1 show was pretty damn horrible, they kept getting out of time from each other and trainwrecking. fucking TOMAHAWK blew them off the stage that night, for chrissakes.

They opened up with Third Eye on this current tour and played the entire song... that by itself was almost worth the ticket. :pizza:

I actually respect Tool, or more specifically maynard, more because he has no problems being honest about despising his fans.

I'm taking my little brother and his friend to TooL in Sin City. I think I'll take 'em to Die Antwoord in LA as well.
