Now, I wonder if

Doppelganger Cooper is actually Bob, or just an agent of his. He's way more calm and premeditating than how Bob was portrayed in the original series.

Watched parts 1 & 2... with all those repeated viewings of the series and FWWM, these new episodes are like slipping an old pair of your favorite boots while shooting heroin

That chick's ass was great fun. I think she's the little girl from The Nanny with Fran Drescher. I feel old and lecherous, just like David Lynch.

No, does it dip into avant-garde like this does?

I like these episodes, but I'm feeling a bit weird about it. I mean I dig the content, and I'm totally with how dark and weird this has been, but the execution feels...off, to me.

for one thing, I've seen a lot of praise for the visuals, but I'm really not feeling the look. I really don't dig the nu-lynch untouched digital thing, and I think this sort of photography looks particularly bad in the daytime -- so harsh and detailed. the opening scene with jacoby looked like birdemic. the apartment building crime scene stuff and the shots of doppelganger cooper driving around in the desert also looked like low-budget cable. syfy original stuff, or like history channel drama. everyone has pointed out how the wigs are bad and how the special effects have often been terrible, but that shit honestly bothers me way less than the really basic technical stuff. the color palette just looks so plain in the scenes where the sets are ordinary (as opposed to the police station or the black lodge), and that was never a problem that the initial run had.

also bummed by the very sparse music, in contrast to the CONSTANT music in the original series. some of the comedy scenes -- like the ben horne scene and the andy/lucy shit -- felt particularly strange without any music at all. I'm sure that this is a sort of intentional strangeness, I just didn't dig it...the charm of the cornball humor was lost, and everything just felt too spread out. I get that the melodramatic themes might not work with the way darker stuff in this series, but I also could have done with new themes there rather than the subtler atmospheric/soundscapey stuff. I like that kind of thing in other lynch material, too, but I'm struggling with this not actually feeling like twin peaks. I appreciate that lynch is trying to do something new, and maybe trying to reflect how the world of the show has changed...but that show just had such a rich, realized vibe and these episodes not evoking that upsets me slightly

Real son is dead. Cera is a shitty actor hired by Truman to keep Lucy from going completely off the deep end. She's stuck in the 90s when their real son died, which is why cell phones and modern thermostats confuse and frighten her. Doubt that Andy is playing along, but who knows.

   That Michael Cera scene. They all looked like Lynch wouldn't allow them to cut the scene and they were trying to remember their lines.

I think Lynch has officially morphed into Ed Wood.

And that FBI agent walks like a model down the catwalk.

I knew this was going to be less like the show, whose music I thought was a bit overplayed, so I was hoping the soundtrack would be a little more like FWWM but it's not even on that level yet. I just hope Angelo Badalamenti steps up to the plate with some new original stuff, basically.

I'm going to have to agree. The Dougie Show inter-spliced with random character snippets isn't really walking with me with fire, over here.

I have actually liked 3, 4, 5...the ones I hadn't seen when I talked drunken shit. it's expansive, threads slowly but luxuriantly weaving nearer. Cooper in Dougie's body has been some of my favorite stuff...and that scene where Seyfried fell in love with excitement

but

why is no one talking, anywhere, about how FUCKING GOOD Fargo season 3 is? it's the best thing going...right when I think it will tip...it rights itself

Michael Stuhlbarg is incredible, and David Thewlis always has been

whatevs

entertainment

Oh yeah, Fargo is the best show on right now. It's in a higher class than American Gods or Twin Peaks.
