I've played it off and on for the last few years. It's interesting some of the stuff they respond to.

It can understand a lot but sometimes if something if worded in a unusual way the game doesn't get it. I was able to get Grace to admit to her and I having an affair but it happened only once. I can't get back to that dialog no matter what I do.

a couple of years ago. occasionally it pops up in conversations about procedural dialogue and mission handling as an example of why it isn't done more often. basically a situation this small fully realized in branching dialogue takes as much effort to write as an entire fallout-sized game. this one is entirely written by humans, people are looking into ways to create algorithms that will approximate the results but it's hard. so basically the ramifications of a system like this implemented in a full sized game would be something like in a GTA game, if you bumped someone on the street and they spilled their coffee on their clothes. they would then turn around and go back home to change instead of going to work. when that person is late for work, it affects everyone she would be in contact with. so one action would ripple outwards and possibly create significant changes in the overall landscape. that's what this is on a very small, isolated stage. it's really cool for what it represents and what it says about the direction of games in the future

interesting post, Copstache. I've always wondered if it was even possible to expand the dialogue options and results In a fallout type game. I mean even if you COULD think of every possible response that could be presented in a conversation, would anyone ever have time to program them all into a large game?

Tried playing it a while back and I found it pretty lame, at least as far as trying to play it legit ... the controls and input were too clumsy to take seriously.

I love the concept of "art games" or whateverthefuck, but they're completely ruined by the wankers that make them. Too much pretension, not enough programming.
