Some of them I can't though, as they're either too long, or they have loose components that would cause havoc within the box if I laid them any way but flat. After spending a good 15 minutes fucking with them I realize that I have a lot of odd shaped box shit games. Finally got rid of some stinkers though, so I'm 100% with my current collection. No more shit buys.

Did you ever get into BATTLEMASTERS? I'd like to hear about someone actually playing it correctly instead of using the board as g.i. joe terrain.

Got the Return of the Fallen expansion for ascension. Levels the field with the glut of op cards it brings. FUN

How is Ascensions? You play MtG, so is it a decent alternative? I can't... though I sort of want to.

On a short vacation. Brought Mice & Mystics, Ghost Stories, Friday, Space Hulk: Death Angel, and Race for the Galaxy. I'm committed to playing M&M most, as I've had it over a month and haven't given it a go yet.

Ascension is easy to learn, plays fast, and is pretty fun. Its straight forward enough that non mtg enthusiasts can enjoy it, but its also a nice alternative. Me and the lady have played dozens of games on the core set without it getting stale. I highly recommend it. I'd definitely start with the core before adding on though...I didn't know here was 8 expansions out  .

in other nerd news, my lady's old boss at the math lab in college (who was one of the original alpha play testers for mtg) stabbed his wife to death....so that sucks.

That's pretty evil.

EDIT: Searching for that image I stumbled upon a site that gave me a good laugh.
http://church-of-illumination.com/mtg-satanic-evidence
"Children will summon the dead at graveyards near their homes or even just their dead pets. This will cause them to burn in hell."
"The artist may have even visited hell to complete the artwork as it is very detailed."
"This inspires young boys into thinking that Satan can make them powerful in real life too."

Best part is that every image links you to amazon where you can buy these evil devil cards to summon the hoards of satan! Very helpful.

hahahah holy shit

In the Star Wars movies the Jedis have what they call “the force”. This allows them to control objects around them and tellimunicate. The main antagonist Luke even talks to his master Obie-One-Kanobi who is dead.

such troll

Have you played Mansions of Madness? It is a similar gameplay style (it precedes MoM).
GM plays the baddies and it's co-op to achieve a goal in each scenario. Defense is determined on dice rolls. Various modifiers depending on your characters abilities.

I played a Beastmaster this go around. Which is cool because you can summon a wolf that acts as an additional player with one less action move.
After leveling up he also provided additional defense dice to adjacent players.

Dungeons & Dragons Castle Ravenloft.
It's essentially Descent with the group mechanics of Arkham Horror. Meaning... you don't need a player to be the baddy.
It was pretty fun and easy to pick up. Got through the dungeon in and hour or two without really knowing the rules at the start.
I wouldn't pay the full price for this... it doesn't seem robust enough to warrant it, but our guy got it for $18 in the discount bin at Barnes & Noble. Totally worth every penny of that.

Followed up with our Dungeon World Campaign. My wife is the best fucking GM ever. She makes 3d models of objects we encounter in the game and illustrations of visual shit we find and have to solve. She makes fucking powerpoint presentations to get us all up to speed. Next level shit. Had a great session. Not a lot of action but the story progressed a lot. Super fun campaign. Wish we could do it more often. Old people problems.

Got together with some coworkers the other night and played some Arkham Horror. I needed about 5 cycles of rounds to fully remember all the rules, but I am spun back up. Feels good man. I own all the expansions and only have played The King In Yellow and Black Goat of the Woods. I read everything from The Dunwich Horror expansion yesterday and am adding this in next session. We all work weird schedules at work, but there is one day during the week where we all can link up.
If we can routinely get this going, we will have a game with all expansions at once.

FEELS FUCKING GOOD MAN.

Thread needed the bump. Thanks!

I've been considering getting rid of my Arkham collection lately every since Eldritch Horror came out, but I just can't. That new Star Wars shit FFG put out is supposed to be like Descent 2ed, only better? Too many expansions/money to sink to justify for me.

Anyone play Camp Grizzly? My best blind buy of the year by far. Getting all of the expansions.

Never saw this post before. I used to own Battlemasters. When I moved to Florida, I went ahead of my mom. She sold off (probably threw away) all my board games and this was one of those ALONG WITH HERO QUEST

There is no way I'll ever get rid of my Arkham collection. I'll check out that Camp Grizzly. If you see Avalon, it's worth getting. Great psychology game trying to figure out who is who.

Has any of you remaining members here that game pledged to this? The game mechanics look like there will be some decent re-playability. Also, if you like painting models, there are quite a few to waste your time on.

holy fuck, the minis look awesome. Just watched the gameplay mechanics demo and it seems to contain several excellent mechanics. Says in the description it was developed by the same company that made Guild Ball, which I haven't played but which has an excellent reputation. Damn, the kickstarter isn't even over yet... I shouldn't really spend money on board games right now...

If you look at the extra stuff under the stretch goals, you'll see how ridiculously expensive it will all get. I don't care. I'm getting it all

I'm looking at buying that extra expansion, the extra tiles, and maybe an extra boss at a minimum.
