Peter Wolf is the fucking ULTIMATE Boston "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM??". I've heard constant stories of him jumping up on stage at shows where people don't want him to sing and calling out his songs like everyone obviously should know how to play "Angel in the Centerfold". A friend of mine worked at a local bar n' grill and the dude made a scene out of being charged for the hamburger he orderd.

That aside, I DO like the J. Geils Band.

I just watched "New York Doll", the doc about Arthur Kane. Nobody told me it was shot by a Mormon. It was hard to watch.

"Angel is my Centrefold" was responsible for early proto-boners in the late 70's for me.

despite not playing that album (tape) in 20 + years, I did break out the track title as an expression of speech in conversation while watching Enslaved standing around critiquing chicken wings just a few weeks back..

hmmmm...I dunno man.. lukewarm for me..

vocals trying so hard to sound like pete, while I suppose he was busy cashing in on the "free burger" years post the height of his popularity..

this album essentially tanked and kilt the band off.

I remember Concealed Weapons as the one song that got some radio play...
haven't heard that in ages either.

Broke it out and listened...

Gettin even sounded like a total attempt to remake Freeze Frame, but failed in every way. It had the formula, but lacked the magic and craft that made Freeze Frame a 10/10 banana milk can album. The trademark geils-ism's all sound forced, and where Freeze Frame moved the houserocker band sound into the contemporary sounds flawlessly, this album is scarred with mega dated mis-use of the technology and sounds of the times. Actually behind the times.

It's like it should be called "It's 1989, but it soundin' like 1984".

You know what's an underrated album, Ladie's Invited...



I'd have to say--- as for Houserocking party rock bands..there is not even any other band in the conversation for TRVE KVLT HOUSEROCKERS beyond J Geils Band. None.

was reading sir lord baltimores wikipage, and stumbled onto this info.. what a stellar concert.. holy fuck, Black Sabbath and J. Geils 110 cans of kvlt

On February 19–20, 1971, Sir Lord Baltimore played consecutive nights at New York's Fillmore East as the opening act on a bill that included The J. Geils Band and Black Sabbath, as part of the latter's Paranoid tour. (Sir Lord Baltimore played additional dates on this tour, as well.)[12] A photo of the band used in the Fillmore East's programs was later used as the cover of their 2006 reunion album, Sir Lord Baltimore III Raw.[5]

so much fun to crank up yer own eeelectrik geetiar, put on a whole side of houserocking geils and rock out.

I think one main reason I could care less about local yokal blues bands is they can never be as much fun as I have just jamming along with Geils.
