I loved it. I feel like it's a very good adaption of the book so far. I actually got goosebumps when Ned said "Winter is coming." Tyrion is fucking awesome. There wasn't much Arya in this episode but from what I saw I think the actress could do her justice. Same with Jon Snow. Decent amount of T&A so far, glad to see they haven't censored the story. In fact, I think they took liberties with the story and added MORE titties. I can't wait to see more of the Hound.

The scene with the direwolf pups could have been done a little better though. It didn't feel like had it nearly as much impact as it did in the book.
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
The foreshadowing was too subtle.
I'm very excited to see this series play out.

I liked it. Not underwhelmed, it was exactly what I thought it was going to be. I'm definitely stoked on it. I fucking hated the Pentos/Dothroki shit, but I hated all the Danerys chapters in the books so it was to be expected, that shit was just way too Scorpion King/Prince of Persia. They definitely didn't skimp on the tits as much as I thought they would. I watched it with my mom and the amount of discomfort I felt clearly reflected the amount of sex in the show. They didn't focus on the food as much as the book. I wasn't dying to eat after watching it. Overacted all around, but I think it fits. I don't know how this would be any good at all without reading the books first though, there was a lot of shit I had to explain to my mom, but she's getting kind of crazy.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Have you ever read Jules Verne?! Nothing can be that bad and I don't even remember the meal descriptions. Why do you hate food boners anyway?

Tyrion's eyes aren't mismatched. George R.R. Tolkien is rolling in his grave.

I loved the food boners, that's my complaint, I thought they didn't focus enough on the food in the show.

Pisscubes wrote:- it already suffers from what I complained about earlier concerning The Sopranos-- we need to see sex and tits EVERYWHERE. If that makes me sound like a prude, well... fuck you. It just seems like a gimmick
Thats because it is a gimmick. Now granted, yes, the books have lots of sexual content, but it is a gimmick on HBO overall. Just look at Boardwalk Empire. Hell, even The Wire sometimes couldn't escape HBOs need for sex gimmick.

Scene of McNulty being McNulty
McNulty meets some random female
They seem to hit it off
Cut to scene of them fucking

Its become so common and formulaic on HBO (and showtime and Starz too) that its become tiresome. And yeah, I'll probably sound like a prude too, but fuck it.

I think sex, gore and profanity is more necessary in this brand of fantasy so that it's not perceived as purely childish fairy tale. LOTR suffered a lot from that.

But I didn't read the book like Goatus did so what the hell do I know.

I didn't mean to imply that they weren't, or that HBO was simply trashing up things for ratings.
