rewatched True Detective Season 1. It's like a solid 9/10 but I think Season 3 was better overall.

It's better than most any western put out in the past 20 years. I'm certainly not an Ethan Hawke fan, but I forgot he was in it about halfway through the season. All I saw was a psychopath hellbent on murdering slavers in the name of Jesus Christ. Sure, it's not exactly historically accurate and barely scrapes the surface of John Browns legacy, but I'll take what I can get.

Half way through "Your Honor" but this is like Breaking Bad 2.0, and that's not a bad thing.

Started off more like Sex Education (yeah yeah, get fucked), so many light-hearted jokes about shitty sex, people acting awkward etc., but then turns much more serious soon. Toni Colette, as usual, is sensational.

Wait, it becomes good again after the abysmal (or so I'm told) second season? Is it worth watching the second season?godofdeadlydeath wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 10:38 amrewatched True Detective Season 1. It's like a solid 9/10 but I think Season 3 was better overall.

The second season is kind of ridiculous but not that bad, IMO. Third season is fucking great. Never would've guessed Mehershala Ali and Stephen Dorff would be a great pairing but they really are. You could skip season 2 and watch 3 first, they're all standalone seasons.THE KILL wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 3:38 amWait, it becomes good again after the abysmal (or so I'm told) second season? Started watching Defending Jacob on Apple + last night. It's fine. Chris Evans is surprisingly good in this dramatic role but the show itself wants so badly to be prestige TV drama murder mystery and it's just full of cliches. Also I've never seen someone who can facilitate between hot and ugly with the slightest facial expression adjustment like Michelle Dockery. Her American accent also sucks.
I'll finish the season because I have to see if it gets any better, but I'm hoping it gets more ridiculous and less somber seriousness. Also, this idea that Newton, MA is some tight-knit community and NOT full of rich assholes who live on an island unto themselves is hysterical.

Defending Jacob - 5/10
The Morning Show - 8/10
Cobra Kai Season 3 - 10/10 - I'm so glad they brought back the sense of humor from Season 1 and got rid of all the teenage romance melodrama crap that clogged up Season 2. There weren't as many fights but the fights they did have fucking RULED.
