This most recent NXT Takeover is the best pro-wrestling shit I’ve seen in quite some time. Going to have to start watching NXT again.

I had the same reaction. I feel that way every time I watch NXT, though; It’s exactly what I want from wrestling, except for the part where the best wrestlers get pulled to be main eventers for a year before becoming midcard jobbers on the main roster.

a friend was in town to see NJPW and I joined him

one of the highlights is a bummer now that I know the guy broke his neck (he seemed fine right after)

this was also hilarious - I happened to be watching JR through binoculars right before he got blasted. it took like 15 minutes for all their AV stuff to get reconnected. I realize JR is generally detested - I didn't hear any of the commentary he & barnett did but based on their comatose expressions, it had to have been abysmal.

the young bucks LIJ tag team match was the standout for me

Pretty sure JR is pretty universally considered the greatest commentator in wrestling history ?

Some old timers of course would argue Gordon Solie, but the point is that this is the first time I've ever heard someone suggest JR is disliked let alone detested

sorry, I specifically meant for his work with new japan

he (and barnett) apparently don't know any of the storylines, the names of finishers, etc.

I was surprised/saddened to see these two dudes struggling to stay awake while doing commentary

I am listening to WHW right now....it really is my fave wrestling podcast. Glad schiavone is back to doing wrestling commentary. I kinda dig MLW right now.

Just got home from Smackdown. Was a lot of fun, but the best part was King Booker coming out for the 5 TIME part of New Day’s celebration right at the start.

Also awesome was Charlotte getting booed out of the building and everyone celebrating Becky beating her up.

What's your opinion on all in and starrcast?

Now watching All In. If I end up digging it how do I continue? I hate Lucha Underground and NJPW isn’t translates that well. ROH? They have a budget yet? Impact? Smashing Pumpkins’s NWA? So confused.

Not sure. It seems like All In 2 is in the works. I'll watch NJPW, ROH and NWA before i would ever watch WWE.

All In is a really cool concept and it sounds like the execution was very well done. I like Cody Rhodes enough and doing what he did leaving WWE took ballz.

Doesn’t appeal to me overmuch though. I don’t really know many of these guys, and it gets harder and harder for me to watch a couple guys chop each other in the chest and then do a hundred flips onto each other anymore without some story of why it matters.

Starrcast seemed really cool. I love what Conrad’s doing, as previously mentioned, and I’m endlessly fascinated by the stories from the 70s to the late 90s in wrestling, and it seems like they brought in a ton of interesting characters to discuss some good topics. Hoping some of that ends up on the free darknet before too long.

I love all the conrad podcasts. Just recently started giving bischoff's podcast a listen and it's killer. I really love WHW though just because tony and conrad go off on such weird tangents.

I’ve been aware of Bidchoff’s appeal for awhile now. Probably from Youtube clips from other podcasts and shoot interviews. That bastard sold me on the Big Green Egg over a year ago. It’s price point is the only thing stopping me from owning it.

And keeping in line with Tony’s silliness I like Raven’s podcast as well, even though there isn’t much wrestling talk. Raven is low brow humor that sounds very high brow.

I’m starting to worry about Something to Westle, though. Content is now overlapping and I fear Bruce might be out of original material.

Caught some of Impact for the first time since Broken Matt was last on. And while Hardy’s stuff wasn’t what I’d call realistic, it didn’t insult me. It highly amused me, and it knew it was supposed to be absurd. What I saw now, though... ugh! One of Sami Callahan’s group (whom all look like they really enjoy One Finger Death Punch and complaining about women not paying for dinner) traded offense with a dude (something Cage) who looks like he ate a steroid factory and could actually move well. Image a kitten doing an armbar on a rhinoceros. If that didn’t take me out of it, then some demonic luchadores kidnapped one of them when the lights went out and appeared on TNA’s titantron thing, clearly very far away from the ring, all in seconds. Maybe I should just pull up a rocking chair next to Cornett but if this is the future of wrestling then I say NO!

Oh, then Impact played a clip of AJ Styles for some damn reason.

Listen, WWE has major problems right now, but their shit at least looks like something an adult might watch.
