I know AEW is the shiny new toy that everyone loves but I'm still very much into NXT over AEW. I'm excited for Kyle O'Reilly vs. Finn Balor this Sunday. I like a lot about AEW but I get that same sort of "This is barely coherent TV" vibe that I used to get with Monday Nitro, and I'm guessing it's because of the lack of a coherent creative group coming up with the storylines. Some of them are great, but other times I'm just annoyed. Like, I'm happy for Miro/Rusev but being brought in as Kip Sabian's best man and leaning heavy on the "he's good at video games" thing is NOT working for me at all.

Anyone been watching the G1? So glad Jay White is back. I'm glad he beat that rape apologist Ospreay, too. Ishii the MVP of the tournament once again.

Been doing a weekly watch-along of a classic match I've never seen along with a couple of friends these last few weeks. Last week's watch was this masterpiece:

My new profile picture is a photo I snapped with Hiroshi Tanahashi last year at New Japan Fighting Spirit in Lowell, MA. He's the best.

Is anyone watching AEW still? I'm not.

Eh, sometimes. And if I do I certainly skim through a lot of it. I’ll watch Jericho’s wacky stuff, Baker’s bitchy stuff, or a Tazz/Kingston promo. Dude, seriously though, I’m so desensitized to flips, drives, and super moves people constantly kick out of that the matches are kind of just there to watch. All the more worse for AEW is when I decide to watch an old Nitro episode. No comparison.

I just don't get how they decide what ends a match vs what doesn't when like, a piledriver onto the ramp is a two count but some weird flippy splash thing gets you the pin. Or like why is a schoolboy rollup the most successful of all pins

AEW to me is just "ex WWE guys + PWG = Let's try to make RAW but less shitty!" and it often is not very enjoyable to me. I LOVE their midcard talent but most of the main event angles I just don't give a fuck about. I like Mox, think he's been a fine champion, but I'm not that thrilled at him vs. Omega right now. Just the presentation of the product leaves a lot to be desired. I do, however, love Cody, because he seems to be the only one in the company old school enough to know that you have to protect your spot and present yourself like a star and it's not just about "I'm playing fake fighting with my friends and isn't this great that we're all ELITE?!" And their superfans are annoying as FUCK.

I guess AEW has HUDs turned off for a more immersive presentation and we can’t see the health meter or button mashing prompts to escape small packages. I mean, it must be a video game, because in real life Marco Stunt or Joey Jenella would never actually be hired by anyone to complete in any sort of fight, be it staged or not. Right? That would be like getting Stephen Hawkins to narrate a Clint Eastwood western.

R.I.P. to Pat Patterson. Sure, he might have been a pedo but he created the Royal Rumble so it balances out, right?

Remember when Jake Robert's would lay the DDT on a dude.....it was over.

Nowadays that move will fetch you a 2 count at best.

How a fucking Canadian Destroyer isn’t an instant win and real life trip to the hospital is beyond me.
