 Sounds good. I tried tanking but all those assholes came so quickly and fucked me up after I had dispatched two of them.

Tanking still worked for me in NG+ and NG++. Stone Armor + Iron Flesh + Havel's Ring if you need it to get your equip load to <50%. Run up to the first one, circle counter-clockwise, cast Iron Flesh behind him, then try to stay there, two-handing your best weapon. The only big difference to the first time is that bringing a shield is essentially useless because blocking eats up too much stamina.

I think my favorite is "charmer ahead" just outside the door to the female undead merchant.

Haha. And you were so close.
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
Instead of walking up to Patches, the guy who kicked you down to where you got the lantern, go left. There's a ladder there that leads down to the bonfire. This bonfire is warpable, so getting there solves about 60% of teh probloms with TotG.
That reminds me, Patches better be in DkS2.

Worst NPC boss summon in the game. She fucking aggros the next King to come out. I used her once on NG+ and had 3 fucking kings out slinging shit at me because of her.

Best soapstone message I've seen was in front of the guy hanging over the well in firelink "Imminent rear".

Then there's always the obligatory "Amazing Chest Ahead" at Gwynevere/Quelaag, and "Trap Ahead" at Gwyn's fog.

WELL STILL FUCK HIM.

Merchant my ass... he was selling pussy-ass attitude and he got paid in murder.

What did he sell? YARN? FRISKIES? COUGHED UP HAIRBALLS?

HE WAS NAMED PATCHES!!!!
He sells a few choice items that are difficult to come by, but in limited quantity. That and the family masks. Getting him to be a merchant is difficult without know how to answer his questions though, and not raging on him for being such a cock.

You have sinned and are now in the Book of the Guilty. The Guilty must pay. Upon their arrival please lay down your arms and let the blue phantoms do their job.

There's a lot of ways to "sin" in the game, and killing NPCs is one of them. You can be absolved if you go to creepy mage dude in the gargoyle tower and pay for it. Either way, just handle it. You probably won't be invaded for it. Not enough Darkmoons anymore.

Well then, you've been in the book for a while now. I think killing Ms Amazing Chest is the only sin that cannot be absolved.

Again, it's only really used for the Darkmoon Covenant invasions. All of my characters are in the book, but mostly from PvP indictments. It's a good thing.

Patches is a running joke from Demon's Souls. I hate him, and we're supposed to hate him, but that's why I hope he's in the next one.

I killed him on a recent build. In the past I would get him to merchant status, clean him out of his good wares, and then kick him off of the cliff. Feels good to string him along like that and give him a taste of his own shitty shit.

You magnificent bastard...
Try it on NG+. You play him right and he becomes very apologetic. Almost sycophantic. I'll give this one hint to answering his questions so you don't have to look it up later: Patches hates Clerics.

And yes, you will go NG+. Probably more. Unless you jump on DS2 when it comes out, which you will eventually, you can't quit this game. It's addiction, and you're addicted. Just revel in it and enjoy. Once you start to pvp you're done... You're going to make builds specifically for pvp. Multiples of them. Such is my case. I can't stop. I'm trying to stop. I can't stop... Fuck.
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
My last 2 builds I used CE to give myself enough souls from the start to create the build, then I farm materials, gather weapons/armor, and beat the game just to leave enough bosses alive, and areas open to allow for invasions(and allow black phantoms). It's disgusting... but it saves hours and hours of grinding, and I get to try out all kinds of different stat builds. Worth it. No care.

Started a new playthrough today, figured I'd have to re-up on xbox live for the online stuff but so far it seems to be working alright without it. 8)
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
Is scaling damage for str/dex melee characters a big deal or should I be dumping most of my points into vit/end? I can't remember anything important.

I think it's a free weekend on xbox or something, so temporary? The Bill mentioned something about it a couple pages back.

That's pretty much what it was for me too in the end. Only took me over a year to figure it out, too. *cough*

Also, Kaathe > Frampt. Muhfuggen Darkwraith all the way, muhfuggas.

I'll have to quit the convenant again soon, though, there's a bunch of stuff I still want to do that'll require me to be in others, especially gear I don't have yet - I want that ring from Shiva's ninja and all the other stuff he sells, and I realized yesterday I've never actually spoken to the Daughter of Chaos, so I need to get another Sunlight Maggot to trade for that ring and ugh I'll never be able to quit this fucking game.

I dunno why it took me so long, but right now it really is Demon's Souls all over again for me. It's not a game anymore, it's a form of mental illness. I thought getting the platinum would cure me, but no.

The one thing I can't get into is PvP. It's just way too laggy, all of the time. I really hope they get this right in 2.

Can't decide to join the Darkwraiths with my current NG+ guy or start a fresh character. The Dragon covenant seems about the worst unless you are using dragon scale weapons.

you'll get something back that's not a katana. it's a good sword, but only really benefits from being human, and having over 10 soft humanity (if I'm remebering correctly). fury sword?

Friday night I finally hit a stop sign in the form of the Black Knight. I was way too drunk to finish him off after several tries, though I was always close to doing it. I just could not best him in melee. So, Last night I was waiting for True Detective to finish airing so I could stream it. Might as well kill an hour with Dark Souls. Right off the bat, I decide to just pepper the fuck with fireball while he followed me up a few flights of stairs... and that killed him. All the sword and shield play and I could have just played snowball with him. Then I get up to the minotaur, and he was so afraid of my manly shaped lips and groomed side burns he decided to jump backwards off the bridge. :? Uh huh. Then I'm under a bridge and that fruity ass Dragon's sticks his tail out like I'm supposed to be wow'ed with his Dragon ass crack. So, I shot the poof in his ugly tail like 5 times and some how I now have a fancy sword. :?: Time was almost up so I walked back towards the bonfire only to have my way blocked by the invader fog. "Meet my new sword, dickless", I thought. All for naught, as I heard the Dragon trowing a tantrum and suddenly my humanity increased and the fog wall disappeared. Did the Dragon just off the invader for me? This was all too wacky & easy and I wasn't going to use up my night's luck so off to bed to watch my favorite new show.
