I agree. There's maybe two songs in this thread that actually trump the original. There are plenty of covers I'd consider almost as good, or equal (like Eddie Hazel's or George Benson's cover of California Dreamin') but a cover that beats the original is rare indeed.

I guess we'll forever be the naysayers here...

Either you hate Slayer or you haven't heard enough covers... there's some real bullshit out there. I don't think any Hell Awaits cover is better than the original, as was suggested above.
