I almost always wake up thirsty so I keep a glass of water nearby. But not right by the bed because I'll probably knock it over.

warm water always smells like dog saliva and germs to me. some ocd type shit.

When I was flying to Afghanistan, some dude had a hammock made out of nothing but 550 cord. He strung it in between the wall and a pallet. He was the most comfortable man on that C-17.

I power down several glasses of water before bed ad just go to the kitchen for another glass if I wake up feeling thirsty.

The bedside is for earplugs and the phone.

I never needed water at night. Until a year ago my friend bought me a fancy water bottle that doesn't leak. I filled it and put it on my nightstand just to be nice and look like I was using it. That first night I drank a little water, needlessly.

Cut to one year later and my mouth is constantly dry, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and have to rehydrate. What the fuck happened. If I'd never gotten this gift, my body wouldn't have changed for the worse and gotten all dependent on water in the middle of the goddamn night.

I figured you would have a nighty-night survival kit, complete with a dream journal, pens, bottled water, aspirin, condoms, pen lights, mp3 player loaded with lullabies, waterproof matches, and a leatherman, all tucked neatly into a kevlar pillowcase.

Haha, just a disordered stack of D&D books, academic papers and occasional sci-fi paperbacks.

...and a heating pad for got my back/neck.

Anyone on here sleep with an empty protein bucket by the bed so they can relieve themselves of all that night-time water? Just checking....

Oh fuck, I do have a water bottle & holster that I wear on my belt when I'm working or out and about.
