Ha, you wanted comedic adventures. Instead you got grown men crying because of they're slobs with hemorrhoids.
Those aren't comic misadventures in your book?

More like assuming case studies.

Back in the day I used ZSNES and SNES9x. Any new SNES emulators, that are better, or fancier, or more compatible with modern TVs?

Both of those are. I still use ZSnes because I like the cheat function the most. Once you figure out the resolution of your TV you can go into the menu of any SNES emulator and configure the settings appropriately.

Geeheeb is always on fleek with his software, and HIGAN is a fucking beast. It's the most accurate SNES emulator, honestly one of the best emulators ever made. The developer has gone kinda crazy over the last little while, hes a friendly insane wizard man. HIGAN used to be called BSNES before a bunch of crazy features got added, and so e people still prefer that version.

On the Retron systems - I won't soapbox because I know how annoying guys like me are. I just need you guys to understand - the Retron is just an emulator. It takes your cartridge, dumps the ROM on the spot, and uses code stolen from one of the above-mentioned emulators to play the game.

Stolen emulators emulating a ROM of your game which is indistinguishable from the ROm of your game on your computer.

If you have a laptop or PC connected to your computer, I would advise against paying money for a Retron.

One of the main priorities for me is getting the games to not look like a stack of blocks on my UHDTV. I know a lot of folks strive for perfect replication, with scanlines and all that. I prefer a colorful, sharp, and smooth image. More like the modern Rayman games. This site as a lot of examples of the filters you can apply:

Is all this video game talking making some one rationally angry?

Yes. It's psychotic. Id buy one if I had the money, but it's absolutely frivolous. Part of me is also a bit concerned that actual existent NES systems are almost certainly being destroyed to harvest components for that thing; I was never able to confirm to what extent the grave robbing went, but only so many of those bits and bobs are still newly manufactured.

I'd need to see one in action to really decide one way or another. An original system using a decent upscaling or signal conversion device may well be just as good, and it's still entirely debatable whether that makes anyone any happier than a properly configured emulation setup.

I have one small peice of shit repurposed office computer connected to a modern television through VGA that works as an emulation behemoth. Does everything, cost me nothing but the time to properly configure the display output native to the emulators. One four-port USB hub and a few PC gamepads and it's the star of every party.

800 dollars for a Nintendo is like.... you know those middle aged dudes who buy a mortgage's worth of tubes, cabling, receivers and whatnot for a vinyl signal chain? Who usually don't know jack fucking shit about what things like dynamic range and fidelity actually mean? Then they go listen to some mildewed worn out Zeppelin thing that they originally fell in love with on an 8-track through the tinny stereo system in a moving Ford Escort...

Maybe I just don't like the intersection between consumer pathology and consumer electronics... or have thought about the 2A03 so much that I've become an unrelatable wizard shithead.
