The riff at :25 sounds pretty None So Vile-ish, I guess. You could hear some Cryptopsy here and there on the first record anyway.

I don't like it as much as either song on Quasineutrality. Still psyched for the album, though. The label probably picked the "safest" song from the album.

yep, we were looking for a safe song with a wormed album. hopefully willowtip turns into century media soon.

:mastoman:

actually, they picked the song but i love it so had no problem with their suggestion. all the old wormed elements seem to still be there throughout the album to me, just a much better production. i coudln't be happier than i am with the new album overall.

Well Cryptopsy are on CM
I know I'm gonna love the album. This song just didn't have the immediate impact like when I first heard Tunnel of Ions or when the single came out the other year. It's way better than the new Devourment song :D

I think its pretty on-par with the EP in this respect, but certainly better than their last full length. Band rules, can't wait to pick this one up.

hahaha, on an unrelated note my cousin and her boyfriend saw them opening for Obituary and she went on stage in a drunken stuper durning JFACB's set and shouted into the mic that they sucked and they should get off the stage.

"They completely lack spirit, transcendence, humanity. That's the point. If that's truly (they're artists, you can turn away from what they're trying to sell you) the case this might be the most negative death metal album in a long while. Death as in “death of humanity?” It might seem natural to some, the grave-worshippers, the ash-swallowers. I prefer my death metal a little more humanistic. I want to feel runny flesh and grave fat in my death metal, I want to feel horror, shame, guilt, dread...I want to pretend I'm still alive. Wormed tells you: no, you're dead, you're abstracted consciousness, you're floating in the ether, let's convert your bones to stainless steel and still make music. In that sense? This album is a triumph. I love it in any case."

EXACTLY! At first i wasn't too keen with the synthetic over produced because the 1st album was so tangible and organic but this is all about like you mentioned the death of humanity. Even the narrative is about the last man: Krigshu. Once i've finally embraced this thought, i was able to appreciate the album through and through.

If Scientists need a gigantic machine to re-create black holes, i think its only necessary to make this album sound as cold and inhuman.

parts of this record allow me to imagine an alternate direction for cryptopsy after NSV.
some of the chodral expanses in the last tune really make me miss anata :(
i'm glad they kept the meshuggah on the leash... as much as i love them, their leftovers taste worse than even opeth's or death's.

Felt the same thing on that track. I was wondering when you would chime in on this thread.
