Maybe because of its proximity to The Bible series on History Channel, I got a sudden whiff of earnest Christianity when the slave priest prayed and the music went heavy on the strings, and I grew afraid that the whole series will be a sneaky way of converting us all under the guise of rad heathen Odin-lovers who smash crucifixes and spit out the holy eucharist and slash priest throats. Please don't let this happen.

First of all, that ridiculous montage with the seer showing up out of nowhere to explain Ragnarök to the ignorant Christian. And then... Ælla gets the snakepit ready? Apparently one of the versions of Ragnar Lothbrok's life has him captured by Ælla and tossed into a snakepit, but... the show's been renewed for a 2nd season. So they're going to have him escape? Meh.

I do like the monk going native, though. Not what I was expecting.

Am I the only one watching this? Season 2 is so much better than the first one and the writing feels a lot more confident this season. The English King (Thomas Wayne from Batman Begins!) is such a schemer I love it.
