I got a maeesterstroke here--- why not just not go to this event. it's a saturday, and its a free country... go down to a tavern and have a brew or go to the mall and look at teenage chicks or sit around watching Joe satriani videos.. put shelf paper down in those kitchen cabinets...

The husbear and I were invited over for dinner once to the retired jewish couples home that lives next door. It was our neighbors, his brother, father and another family member and friend. All really jewish. They've all been to Israel. His father survived the holocaust. Well, the entire night was just horribly fucking awkward and I wound up doing that cliche thing where you hit your significant other under the table and then give them "the eye" to shut them up to no effect when they say something stupid. Somehow he started talking about pork and bbq and Joe just said in the most flat, emotionless tone ever, "we don't eat pork." The husbear said "Oh, that's ok, let me tell you about how I make my pulled pork on the smoker." At this point I hit him under the table, he looked at me and said "What?" and then continued with the details of how to prepare the meat, what rubs to use, etc. as they all just sat there almost terrified of what they were hearing. God, did that night suck.
