Earlier tonight, I got a string of incredibly bizarre Facebook messages from a freshly registered, new account. At first I thought it was some strange Nigerian spam bot, but after a little while the user started sending me links to Lil Yachty videos and talking about the X-Men.

Soon after this, still borderline incoherent and very disjointed, the dude starts telling me that he's an old friend I haven't spoken with very frequently over the past few years. I realize based on context clues that it's not a robot at all; this is definitely my old friend, and he's either whacked out on DMT or playing some kinda weird joke on me.

I reached out to a mutual friend (who I don't actually know very well) because the entire exchange was outlandish and had a lot of troubling, psychosis-like qualities.

Found out that this dude has had some sort of psychotic break over the summer and nobody is really sure what's going on. Might be drugs, but this exchange had ominous schizophrenic notes to it which I can't really shake.

Not really sure what to do. If I was close with the guy and knew his daily life better I'd probably get in touch with his family to see who knows what, but as it stands I'm really only in contact with much vaguer personalities, and I don't see what's to be gained by calling around creating an anxiety network.
