I dug deep and pulled off the risky-but-worth-it POWER CYCLE (along with a bunch of windows updates) and shit went back to normal.

I feel like modern Chrome has a built-in suspender type function; don't some tabs become zombified if you don't look at them for a while? It's kinda sketchy and annoying but I don't have too many issues with crazyfan.

I think the thing that will kill my computer is these image files that feature a "ball/sphere" graphic made of vector art that's actually a zillion circles of decreasing size and increasing lightness, all laid atop one another. or a plot of data that has a little dot for every millisecond and for some reason excel vectors each dot as five dots all stacked on top of one another. and then my coworker copies a figure with a few of these demon orbs from a PDF into a powerpoint file and the entire grid implodes.

It's incredibly interesting to hear. His constant shift in focus and inability to express anything specific are very striking. The way he references political movements, religious sects, fringe ideologies and meme-things so rapidly, often without contexutalizing any of it at all - he's definitely found his place in the alt-right 4chan Warhammer larping universe.

dude is not joking about the homelessness. this fucking compound under the train tracks near my rehearsal space is COMPLETELY INSANE.

I just spend the last ~10 days working maaaany hours to finish this research proposal - a super dense 12 pages where you could write 25 pages on all the ideas but you gotta cram 'em in. and there's always these super dense figures that are hi-res so you can pack as much detail as possible in. so the resulting word doc ends up at ~4 mb, which I'm pretty proud of because they figures look CRISP and 4 mb ain't shit these days. but as I was working on this thing I'd notice it randomly double in size. WHY. well, I figured it out: word makes its own imaginary copy of each image, which is just a ghost but it still takes up space. if you go through the whole document and CUT then PASTE each image, seemingly changing nothing, but it drops the file size back down to what it should be! pretty amazing life hack, huh?

also, if anyone wants to know how to change alignment of font in illustrator WITHOUT making it move, I got you
