'True Detective' Reunion: FX Orders Matthew McConaughey Drama From Nic Pizzolatto

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live- ... to-1257117
Pizzolatto has also moved his overall deal from HBO to Fox 21 TV Studios and FX Productions, while the Emmy-nominated McConaughey has inked a first-look pact with the latter.

Nic Pizzolatto has a new home.

The True Detective creator and showrunner is moving his overall deal from HBO to Disney's cable- and streaming-focused studio, Fox 21, and FX Productions. Under the new pact, Pizzolatto will create and develop new projects for the studio's various platforms as well as outside platforms. The creator already has his first project lined up as part of the deal — and he's reuniting with a familiar face for it: True Detective grad Matthew McConaughey will star in Redeemer, a drama inspired by Patrick Coleman's novel The Churchgoer. The project has landed at FX with a sizable script-to-series commitment from the John Landgraf-led basic cable network. As part of the pact, McConaughey has also signed a first-look TV deal with FX.

Nic Pizzolatto really likes:

Shots of people on the side of the road

Birds

People getting worked over with lead lined gloves.

You guys make this show seem laborious. Basically this show died at the end of season 1. But you guys have to over-analyze the shit to death.

Pizza-latto is a flash in the pan and this show blows.

JUST FUCKIN SAY IT.

I thought season 2 was actually the most depressing of all three. It really felt hopeless claustrophobic at the end with all the walls closing in and no way out.

I agree. Everyone complained that season 1 wrapped up too nicely and was too much of a happy ending, so Season 2 just went full on deprave depressing and bleak and people hated it. It definitely tried to do too much but it's kind of fun to rewatch that one as opposed to the others.

Another victim of media’s desire to make reboots/remakes/sequels that don’t involve the original creators.

“ His next film as a director will be a “Lion King” prequel for Disney.” Haha, fucking hack.
