Before I even get into this movie, you gotta know the story of it, which is F'N AMAZING. We dug a little deeper into it's backstory when we realized that we were watching a movie released in 2017 that has Matthew McGrory in it (He was the giant famous for his roles in Big Fish as well as Marilyn Manson's Coma White music video). We knew something was up with that considering McGrory passed away in 2005. There were a few tip-offs before this like the fact that Dina Meyer and Sean Patrick Flannery looked super good for their ages.

As it turns out, this movie was shot mostly in 2002, but continued through 2008. The director shot the movie mostly on his own estate (a mansion) and after shooting finished in 2008, he spent 7 years working on the effects and editing himself.

That person was Andrew Getty who was an heir to millions from oil industrialist, J. Paul Getty. Andrew Getty was obsessed with making this film and essentially went broke making it with actors saying that it got to a point where he was eating cereal for all 3 meals because he had nothing left after sinking it into this movie. So for 15 years this guy worked on this movie with problem after problem (lawsuits, problems with crew, money issues, etc) and then he passed away in 2015. It is his first and only movie and is apparently based on his own dreams that he had as a child.

And then 1.5 years after his passing, the movie was released and available for weirdos like us to soak in this strange film. And I must say, it was one hell of an experience. To be clear, this movie is not technically "good" in the traditional sense. It is slow at times. Dialogue is very strange and unnatural at times and there are some story threads that go nowhere. That will scare off most people except the real horror movie fans on my feed, but it is SUCH a goddamn experience to behold that I must recommend it to anyone who likes horror and anyone who likes weird, artsy movies with tons of creativity. The shots in this movie are just magnificent and the effects, while technically crude at times, really create this bizarre nightmare surrealist vibe that is totally captivating.

I can't express enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and it's simply a must-watch if you like horror.

Also, do yourself a favor and watch it under the influence of whatever your vice of choice may be. I think it will enhance this movie for you.
