What about "Big Chief", is that ok? Negro? Usually offensive? What unoffensive usage of redskin do you think Merriam Webster had in mind when they defined the word?
Those are pretty difficult questions. What's not that difficult to say is what it probably means if native Americans have been fighting this particular trademark for over 20 years. Which is what we're talking about here.

I don't think anyone here is pushing for it to be changed because it's the law.
I do think it's reasonable for that law to exist; all it means that if you want to have a hate-promoting logo or whatever, that you can't use the government to protect you from other people using it. It's not that you CAN'T use it, it's just that you're on your own with it. I think it's OK for a government to say "no, we won't protect your racist cartoon from being ripped off".

The government isn't telling Dan Snyder he has to change the team's name. It's just refusing to afford the Redskin name trademark protection using the same reason it refused to afford "Nigga" brand clothing such protection. The team can use the name all it wants, but it will have a much harder time suing someone for making counterfeit RGIII jerseys.
Trademarks are a service provided by the government. It can be a PC fuck all it wants.

I thought it was pretty good. some of the jabs were a little weak but I don't know what I would have expected. Roger Goodell-bot was solid.

So the other night the team was selling stale old cans of left over beer from the world cup.......dan synder had also previously bought surplus of old air line peanuts and sold them as stadium snacks......He also sued a free local news paper because they drew devil horns on him and had a 50 reasons why he's a piece of shit list and recently sued a 72 year old woman who had a redskins couch cover because she couldn't afford her season pass even though he could easily have resold it to the thousands of people on the season pass waiting list...(he actually resold it AND sued her)

If nothing else, at least people other people are starting to realize what washingtonians have known for 16 years. dan snyder is a piece of walking dog shit.
everybody hates him. even the biggest fans and the people defending the team name.
