the best thing to me is how incredibly ineffective the arguments against border wall funding have been. it's such a no-brainer of an argument to make: funding a border wall to stop (pick one—drug smugglers, terrorists, big bird, ennui) from crossing into the states from mexico does nothing to address those exact same problems from other vectors, which exist in plentiful numbers. putting that exact same money into those functions of federal government* that address those concerning matters that migrants could conceptually bring—but is also done by other people from other places, including native-born us citizens—is clearly a better return on investment

*those things suck too, btw—but at least they can theoretically be used to, i don't know, exfoliate the sub-canadian prairie or whatever in the future
