In around 2003-2004 I changed to GODD for a while. It was dumb, but not as dumb as godofdeadlydeath, so I didn't like it as much and changed back. For a while in 2005-2006 I was pretty active and people were calling me Matt on a fairly regular basis, which was weird.

I would occasionally post as Stone Cold Steve Austin also in 2003-2005 or so. I have tried to post more often in the past week, just because this place used to make me laugh and think more than anyplace else on the internet, and I suppose I'm growing nostalgic in my 30s.

Also, the "Stabbed in the eyes with a fucking caak..." 'catchphrase' in my signature was a joke death metal lyric I wrote when I first signed up as godofdeadlydeath on the Metal Maniacs BB in, Jesus, 1998? I was 15. I'm 32 now. That's kind of crazy.

2001 was when I basically ditched out completely on Metal Maniacs and started going to Relapse exclusively. I just remember a lot of neanderthals coming out of the woodwork in the wake of 9/11 on MM, and Relapse seemed to have users that actually had a sense of irony and humor, not just idiotic macho metal posturing. I definitely remember the "gayest band of all time" thread.

hey james can you remind me what band content was PROMISED when you pranked a generation with the korn e-card link? was it like a new cattle decapitation single or something? riley told me most of the story but we could not remember this detail

anyway thank you for burning "korn e-card" into my brain forever. if all the other details drift away, I can at least think of that phrase and smile.

My friend was trying to win a Korn contest, and to qualify he had to get as many people as he could to click on his Korn E-Card Link. He came in 2nd because of all the relapse clicks.

I think my brain made up and changed a bunch of little details. It’s so strange how that happens. I would’ve sworn you were trying to win the corny card contest. Did the winner get a signed guitar, or is that also a figment of my imagination ?

My memory is that the prize was a signed guitar. And no I wasn't trying to win the Korn Kontezt, I actually thought it was "gay" at the time that my friend wanted it, but the idea of tricking people was funny and so history was born forever

A lot of people kept clicking on it even though they were clearly being directed to a card because I just went "Oh that happened to me too, you have to clear your cookies" and stuff like that
