I fucking hate this faggot, but it's always been an issue of taste - it's impossible to feel anything but resentment towards anybody who communicates or presents themselves the way he does. That said, it'd be hard for me to believe he's a neo-nazi.

Anyone I've ever known IRL who've had that music subculture/Portlandia streak of self-consciousness adopt pathologically safe, socially paranoid choices in everything, not just culture or art. Politics, philosophical structures and dietary choices should match your tattoos; otherwise someone might think you're uncool, and you'd obviously become employable and die. I would be weirdly impressed if this man were capable of believing in a hierarchical taxonomy of the human species, even in private - that's an unpopular thing to think, if you intentionally dress like a person who "gets" MF Doom.

These people are geeks, but not the gatekeeper kind - the High Fidelity vinyl clerks and Android Dungeon Comic Book Guy types are alienating and have crazily strong opinions about unimportant things, and they're mentally isolated. A genuine hipster has to be the exact opposite - their drive is to actually fucking merge with consensus like a crazy gnostic priest. It just has to be a layer removed from the mundane. I feel like I could predict what this fucker thinks about anyfuckingthing because his soul is a tailored resume cultivated by fear of rejection instead of the product of human experience or sensory input.

Maybe I've just lost touch with the culture and racism is actually genuinely cool now. I just became aware of that Gavin McInnes guy, and he has a beard and Woody Allen glasses. Maybe all it takes is a few well-groomed bigots and some cartoon frog irony to make ideological racism approachable for the microbrew crowd.

I've gone deep on the situation and this is the thing that happened. like you touched on, the guy is just a shameless serial appropriator. he pops into metal or hip hop for five minutes and starts throwing the tropes around and doesn't stop to think for a second about the context or power of those cultural elements, and his are so naive and dim that there are no consequences for his full-tilt posing.
