edit: I guess I had never really gotten to the strict definition of "conspiracy theory" - it's defined tautologically so that the "theory" is never to be supported. so I guess you're technically right, james. but people conspire, and it is worthwhile to make reasonable attempts to shed light on harmful conspiracies, so... this reminds me of a recent insane conversation I was having with friends/family about the controversy where a catalog shoot in sweden (?) for H&M resulted in a black kid wearing a "coolest monkey in the jungle" hoodie and there was a ton of uproar. but maybe we've come so far that we don't think of black people as monkeys and we can just put a black kid in a shirt that talks about a monkey and it's fine? this evolved into a conversation about how to defend yourself against being accidentally racist, which would of course require you to know every slur under the sun, so by way of demonstration I was rolling out all sorts of insane shit that I probably wouldn't know without access to jofa's social media (e.g. coalburner) and people were horrified. but I stood my ground and declared myself an elite defender against racism, going beyond mere social justice, I was a RACIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR. this is a conceptual cousin of "conspiracy scientist" to be sure. I can wear many hats.

Hey man, look. This board has a really exceptional record for attracting intelligent, well-educated people. I'd bet that even some of the regulars who don't put a ton of effort into their posts are way above population average for IQ. Couldn't tell you why, but that's what he have going on here.

Writing like this is like showing up to a job interview in a rented tuxedo with bullshit on your resume. People are going to be able to tell that it isn't your suit. Maybe the knot in your tie says "youtube tutorial", or maybe your responses you give to the interview questions are too evasive and vague. More than likely, you'll simply look different than everyone else who showed up that day - you probably don't have enough experience in that field to know how to dress the part. It's way better to decide to be good at what you really are then it is to float bullshit like this and assume nobody will be able to notice, especially if you're yelling at them.
