Alright my dudes, I'm pretty close to nuking all my profiles. I've had my gripes for a while, then I found this dude






and I'm drinking his kool-aid big time.

Has anyone here done this? I'm worried about getting alienated, tbqh. Does it destroy your social life? Do people even recognize you at parties? How do you get invited to parties?

Should you go as far as to leave Reddit, Tumblr, 4chan etc?!

I definitely feel like those are the MOST infected limbs, craziest people doing the most damage to themselves and others... but jfc I feel like dumping Reddit entirely would almost feel like a monastic sacrifice. Making a throwaway account and asking questions on ASKPLUMBERS or AUTOREPAIRDUMMIES is a weekly thing for me.

Does any of this work if you half-ass it?! Can I use youtube to learn useful stuff without letting Red Pill Darwin Star Wars Cuck Boy access to my third eye?

I dunno, I really don't feel like any of this is harming me, or at least not anymore. My generation grew up at the same time as the internet was invented - it didn't really become a thing until I was in my 20s, and then I made all the self-destructive "arguing on the internet" mistakes, and now I've grown out of it. It still causes too much procrastination, but that's about my only problem.

What I think is kind of funny is, I clearly remember when people thought you were a fucking weirdo if you talked to people on the internet, and now you're weird if you talk to people in real life.

Nothing about it has changed, either. Social media is 100% governed by the exact same principles as this place was at it's peak. Now it's effecting the outcome of elections and suicide rates and stuff though. COOL.

I've disabled facebook for years at a time in the past, and yeah you do miss out on some stuff. I re-enabled it like a year ago and it was weird how dead it is now.

I think there are healthy ways to use social internet! but anyone who is able to self-moderate sure as shit won't be going cold turkey on social media anyway, so...?

That's definitely true, which is why I don't find navigating it to be a problem. And why it's so weird to watch major politicians and celebrities now do the same stupid shit I learned not to do 12 years ago on a semi-obscure music messageboard.

I've considered deleting my Facebook, but that's also how I keep up with goings on in my area and the real life people, including my own family, who never call. I use Tumblr less now that it's no longer the hot spot for good cartoon porn, but I still check it. Twitter is good for keeping up with retarded moments in politics, and while 4chan isn't social media, I'll never leave. Even if it has been circling the drain for years.
