I wish Troy Aikman would commit suicide.

You're not actually old, and you've only just entered the age group where most men kill themselves.

Both my grandmothers and maternal grandfather are still alive and in their late 80’s

My paternal grandfather died at 36 before I was born.

What does that have to do with Chad thinking he's too old to kill himself...

42. I'm not out of the woods yet if that's what you're asking.

He was actually thin when he died. Still had shitty arteries or whatever. I think he lived pretty hard from what I heard.

My dad is 65 and 380 pounds, rolls around in a cart somewhere in San Francisco with leaky heart valves living on SSI. I honestly couldn’t give a fuck less about him. Maybe Neckwrecker can roll him off a cliff.

Dude, get things straight with your dad before one of you dies. How bad was he?

I tried to get things straight with my crazy dad before he died — it was a waste of time. Don’t bother.

I say this with the least angsty whiny teenage way possible:

There is absolutely no way there will every be any kind of reconciliation with my father in any way shape or form. Ever. If I died before him I wouldn’t want him at my funeral.

Jeez. I hate to sound like I'm rubbing anything in, but besides being catholic to the point of concern my dad is the fuckin man. And a lot healthier than my smoking and boozing ass.

My dad is the worst person I have ever known on a personal level, by any objective standard.

Hey, that doesn't sound adolescent at all man. Sounds like you've thought about it. Genuinely sorry to hear - I mean that.
You've obviously grown into an empathetic and decent person despite him... not too many people rise above like that.

Do you think that relationship has effected your view of the world? You have a very particular vision of things, and I've noticed you tend to fixate on the powerful, especially when you feel they're abusive of that power.

Fixated on the powerful.

I’ve never really thought about it in those terms but you’re probably correct. When the first authority figure in your life told you nothing but lies, it has to have an effect.

 for that post, man. It's so easy being a cynical asshole on a messageboard, yet you took the time to write some sympathetic words.
