I know now that it's reagan-era fucking literary propaganda, but when I was like 10, tom clancy's Red Storm Rising was a great book. big fat red tome assuring a child that America is right...even went to read Larry bond, I loved Patriot games and clear and present danger... Along with the great movies with Harrison Ford

but this john krasinski stuff is straight up propaganda and comes a time when you have to realize that you are being worked

it is state propaganda as much as anything you would find in a dictatorship, but is more insidious because it's hidden behind the idea that your country is infallible in the world

I will vote for a socialist in the American political primaries if I vote at all

fuck tom clancy and fuck america and fuck Jack Ryan unless it's Harrison Ford

The problem with you people is that your cities have never been bombed and no one has ever told your mothers to shut the fuck up.

This is probably the only genre fiction genre that doesn't interest me at all.

I just can't get into spy thriller or political gun boy stories.

I want to like James Bond but it's always bored me too hard.

This and spacing out at sports games, with the exception of hockey, has always made me feel like less of a man, however if I gave a fuck I would probably try harder.

I’ve read two Robert Ludlum books that were left on the free table at work. They were pretty much the same. I have one of the Bourne books but doubt I’ll read it unless I’m really bored.

Watched the first season. It was terrible because of how altruistic it was.
But not rah rah 'murikkka, but dorking Jack Ryan the infallible badass.
However :mastoman:

I understand exactly what you mean. I do appreciate the masculinity of Bond, I just don't care about the adventures he has. I'm way more into crime and cop movies for that kinda shit.

Self-insert characters for slaying pussy is totally useless to me unless its shit like Wolf of Wall Street or some rock biopic.

I don't care that this dude just impressed some fake made up lady named Jizztacia Van Cumblossom at a casino, to fight communism.
