had to setup a tablet so someone could say goodbye today, it was the first time they had ever used video chat.

PLEASE wear a mask at all times when you are indoors with people not in your bubble.

Goddammit I cannot imagine a less comforting way to die than alone amidst the beeping and chirping of machines that failed to save your life

follow-up from Ed, who I think may also be a former relapser like aaron "motherfucking" rupar:
"Another way to think about these lags is that some of the people who are infected on Thanksgiving will enter the hospital in the middle of December, and the morgue around Christmas."

the "coronavirus is a global warming speedrun" parallels never end

these vaccines = "we found another earth we can live on" ideation*

in other words, good news is good, but I actually believe this news will substantially increase the body count over the next 4 months

(*comparison breaks down because effective vaccine will actually arrive before we're all dead)

remember that elon musk has a twitter banner showing mars being terraformed

WHICH BRINGS US TO

I fucking hate Elon Musk so much and his stupid cult of neck beard turds who worship him as some kind of real life Tony Stark. He’s not “saving capitalism”, he’s worse than Steve Balmer.

Nothing says California Excellence quite like Governor Dollar Store Gordon Gekko clamping down on every aspect of life while going to the French Laundry to celebrate some asshole lobbyist's birthday

My father hasn't seen me or my kids in almost a year, but sure, canapés and amuse-bouches with money laundering slugs

And it's the shit like THIS that makes the MAGAts out there think "All politicians are corrupt and spineless and only care about themselves, which is why the only person I CAN trust is a fake Billionaire 'populist' who wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire"

Reasons GF boo sweaty has been sent home from work this year:

1. Plague
2. It's hot
3. Political instability
4. Social equity is smashing up the used car lot down the street from her office
5. Plague (today)

There's only two questions that ever matter at any given moment:

1. Should I kill myself right now?
2. Should I go into the woods or stay here

Everything is always a combination of your answers to those two questions

holy fuck

I have heard rumblings that he's going to hop into harris's senate seat

so this situation was basically a job interview for his new position in congress, and based on the skills you need for that job, he seems to have nailed it!

me: How do you feel about wearing a mask? Not trying to start a political argument, just genuinely curious.
JJ: @me I have not worn a mask on the streets of new york city not once ever if I go in a store or a gym that's the rules they set up so I follow them but when I see motherfuckers out in the middle of nowhere ridding a bicycle and running with a mask (clown emoji)
JJ: @me Here's the other thing if I have to wear a mask on the street to protect other peoples' health then see them with a fucking bag of McDonald's or a cigarette I'm gonna smack that shit the fuck out of their hand that's the logic right (side laugh-cry emoji)

I'm happy I got a screen shot of it since the responses along with my post have since been deleted

I don’t wear a mask if I’m raking leaves or something but if someone is walking up the sidewalk I’ll go as far away from then as possible or go back in my house until they are gone. It’s really annoying if some dipshit wants to start a conversation with you. I feel like I’m going to need to keep a mask handy just to do yard work.

Work should be getting around 900 doses of BNT162 in mid-December, that is the pfizer vaccine. I signed up for it, but with the caveat that all the staff who work do patient care come first. We do have some people here who won't get it for a variety of reasons, a few of them are even good reasons!

It's incredible that it's in production already. Do you have any concerns with it being available so soon? Earlier this year, I talked to a few medical professors who were skeptical that a vaccine would be available within two years, let alone a number of months. I'm all for it, but I am not so confident that I want to be at the front of the line.

their skepticism about success was the only reasonable stance. a vaccine has never been developed this quickly and the technologies that "won" were previously unproven. BUT that doesn't mean there's any reason to be suspicious of the technology - the scientists (and by extension, humanity) got lucky, basically

I am also kinda hesitant about getting these ultra-fast vaccines tbqh, but for selfishness/idiocy reasons, not defensible reasons
