You understand that in a population of several hundreds of millions of people a fluctuation on the order of hundreds of thousands is statistically negligible? It’s not negligible though especially when you look at death rates in specific geographic locations ( like New York City) where the death rate from just the previous year would be relatively static has jumped significantly. You literally have no idea what the fuck your are talking about at any given moment even at a laymen’s level.

Uh, why would this be evidence to NOT get a vaccine? This blog post is whining about whites being required to get vaccinated for influenza, and why people of color have an option. Did you read WHY it's not mandatory? Seems like a considerate approach, but I'll pretty much guarantee that at the very minimum 95% of people of color who are attending Cornell will get the vaccine. If they choose against it, they will be subjected to the same rigorous testing and check-ins that are going on now, and it's a pain in the ass. There's a reason that Cornell has been able to keep in-person classes going this year, uninterrupted. There's also a reason that the county that Cornell resides in has a less than 1% infection rate. It's taken very seriously.

Whoever tried to sell this to you as a reason to not get a vaccine is really stretching the "white people are treated unfairly" bullshit thin. Incredibly dumb.

Tonight we are warmed by fires that we did not light by ourselves, and we drink from wells that we did not dig on our own.

So I’ve had a few drinks but today is my birthday and I’m happy to take time out to volunteer to vaccinate others. I was offered the vaccine but turned it down because we didn’t get as many doses as we initially thought we would and I don’t think I could sleep if someone who comes into more direct contact with patients who wants it doesn’t get it.

So far I have way more side effects from giving the vaccine (tired from getting to work extra early and staying late, cracked and bleeding skin from gallons of hand sanitizer, dehydrated from being too slammed to go get a drink, and hoarse voice from talking loud through my respirator all day) than getting the shot (0.5/10 pain at injection site).

MuscleMan Glub can honestly say that his left upper arm aches like a motherfucker, but no side effects other than that.

There WAS a slight argument ovrr which OR nurse would get to stick me, since a few wanted revenge for my occasionally psychotic behavior.

Awesome, glad you guys got the vaccine! Has there been any discussion about how protocol may change when workers have built up an immunity so as to alleviate any extra burdens/unnecessary precautions for staff who are no longer considered at-risk? Or will things continue as-is?

Also, any ideas when we might start seeing the vaccine listed on ebay or stockx? I hear it's the new "must-have" fashion for tik-tok! PS5's are passé now.
