hey mens, remember ye olde label that brunged us all together....

My local yokal library, kindly has the entire output..for the mostpart from year 1 to current Relapse bands streamin' online. Been checking out lotsa bands and albums really never got to hear before... and my verdict is still tip top lable chock fulla good stuff if you find what your looking for.

Post any new or new last 10 years or stuff albums or bands yer diggin.

Diggin' this Esctatic Vision band...never heard of 'em.. deep purply stonery but with some great tones and riffage.

Been onboard for Intra Arma too, pretty much everything of quality. They got a new EP , covering Ministry Neil Young Tom Petty Venom and... prince . fucking cool weirdos

Dig Bloodiest too.. pinkish black...

Gotta give 'em credit, pretty damn solid careerwise discography

glad my library taxes go towards getting to spin new Gruesome and vintage brutal troof

I haven't really cared about what relapse has put out for probably 20 years at least.

I watched the Slave to the Grind doco and the rose coloured glasses about how honourable Relapse was went against a lot of the stories I experienced/heard.

Musically it’s still got currency but I’m not really across the last few years work

Still my favorite band. Haven't listened to this yet, half-assedly waiting to get my hands on the physical release... probably wont hold out.
Whatever else the label has done, I'm most thankful for this.

The new Zombi rules. Less kosmiche jammings and shorter songs.
The Steve Moore scores on Relapse are mostly fine.
That Gatecreeper death metal band rules but their logo sucks.
Kinda enjoy Primitive Man in small doses.
Really hoping for some new Cretin.
Loved those Serpetine Path couple of records from a few years back.
I hate to say it but the new -(16)- is booooring.

I'm a zombie fan as well... and those steve moore solo and soundtrack things are all worth listens.

Was expecting more of Gatecreeper based on folks loving 'em. Hasn't hit me the right way yet.

Haven't heard that newest zombi, didn't realize it was out yet.

Incantation is back on relapse too

no one asked but here is my milkbrain:

The upcoming Realize record doesn't seem too terrible, a lot better than their previous band Sex Prisoner. Wish the recording was dirtier.

new Incantation same thing, not bad but i wish the production was nastier

Primitive Man recordings sound great, but the songs don't grab me. I hav'nt seen them live in almost a decade but they were very heavy.

inter arma is not my thing, same with genghis tron

gatecreeper suuuuuuuuucks. merch band.

living gate is pretty good, but not great.

i like the exhumed side more than the grusome side.

dying fetus covers EP getting the vinyl treatment? i guess the USA really did pull out of the paris climate accord

not-so-new-by-now devourment was a very pleasant surprise

zonal is not something i would spend money on but might not skip the track on shuffle.

i didn't buy the candy 7" but i'd consider going to a show. just like that band vein, i guess numetal influence is just fine in hc?

Thanks for the nod, M8, wasn't expecting it to come up before I self promoted (even though I know BUSINESS has come out in favor before).

I'm proud enough to tack my flyer up on the break room bulletin board :

I remember around 98 or so every release on the full page relapse ads in Metal Maniacs were pretty much right up there. The minute they started putting out shit like Alabama Thunderpussy and mastodon the label went full homo.

I hesitated posting that Devourment again because I don't want to come off sucking you off but honestly, it's the only good thing Relapse has released since the mid-2000s.

Zombi has been consistent but they keep flying under the radar.

Gatecreeper is the most overhyped mediocre band ever. Christoph from Internal Rot said it right "Does anyone fall for Gatecreeper's 'making death metal memorable' bullshit when what they actually mean is easily digestible and appealing to people who don't care? It's not memorable if you remember it before you've even heard it, that's just predictable."

edit - that post was supposed for the Redskin thread. Ooops.

I'll say this about Relapse though, at least they're not in the same level as Earache yet where their newer acts are practically has no relevant significance in Metal and they're basically living off their classics....though I see that Relapse has been re-issuing their classics lately too.
