I've been following him for a while and the name always sounded familiar and I never put 2 and 2 together that it's THAT Aaron Rupar. Wow.

He posted on the original Relapse UBB in 97/98ish. I can barely remember much anymore beyond his name but I think he got picked on a bit and got in dumb arguments. Back then you didn’t have to register and you could put whatever name you wanted on your posts and I think people would make joke posts under his name.

Oh god I forgot about the ability to change your name and the fake Aarons. I would get bored occasionally and just post as Stone Cold Steve Austin. That original RBB was like the wild west, I got introduced to it via the Metal Maniacs Board, which was also a hellscape.

Okay friends, I reached out to someone who knew him:
I can. I’ve been friends with Rupar since elementary. He was into a lot of death metal (and anything technically proficient on drums) when we were in Jr High and High School. He heard the band Vile was trying out drummer in the late 90’s and sent them a tape and got response from them, but he was 15. Entirely possible it was/is him on the Relapse board.

His response just now: “lol ive gotten a couple DMs about this -- i think i did? i definitely was in to Relapse Records bands back in the day but i have no memory of posting on a message board” and “ i did a lot of dumb shit on the internet when i was like 14 so its a weird thing to get asked about”
