Disagree, if only for Funeral Inception.

Agree.

It's funny how a guy can have 2000+ posts and I don't remember anything he's posted. I must have subliminally foe'd him and just skip over his retarded posts.

How about you just don't listen to the bands they spawned? I don't really understand the point of subjecting yourself to listen to bands you don't like, but to each his own. At the Gates helped spawned metalcore, but that doesn't mean I wish they hadn't made Slaughter of the Soul.

who, me? you gluttonous sack of utter shame. normally I would ignore a jab, but coming from such a useless, fat-filled, complete blob of utter static, I can't let it fly. listen, fat faggot, you never did anything good. never contributed, never helped at all. time to go. and fuck you if you think you know me on my 2000+ posts...useless...

agreed. something around that time was just aligned to the near perfection, the riffs, song arrangements, production, execution EVERYTHING except the time when it was released. it was just unfortunate for them that at the time when that album was released DM was a taboo.
Even the rerecording of Breeding The Spawn sounded so crushing.
Suffocation these days are just a hollow shell of their former selves.
the difference is...they weren't exciting...even when released, so much better stuff out there...this got the praise only cause it had breakdowns. sure, they started that...but that's like claiming fake fairy-synths in prog---not a good thing

It's their Six Feet Under album. I like Suffocation when they're complicated, which also explains why I think PFW is superior to Effigy. The songs on Despise the Sun are retardedly simple to begin with, and then along came Culross with his phoned-in "just blast right through it" drum performance. Bleh. Unfortunately it's also probably their album with the best production (or let's say least shitty), but really, the only song on there that doesn't bore me to tears is the rerecorded version of Catatonia, and that pretty much says it all.

I think hands down, pierced was their best album. They're probably the best brutal death metal band out there, but nothing past DTS really impressed me. Their self titled album was complete shit and was painful to listen to.
Well, they still have all of the same tools/techniques, etc. but what's missing is the passion and spirit...the hunger, for lack of a better word. They're too experienced now and they're just going through the motions. But DM as a whole is old now, there just isn't that same feeling of being out on the edge, of doing something really instinctive and vital, of exploring, creating new things.
