internet

I'm thinking of making a computer chair that also doubles as a shitter. I'm going to make a fortune!
we've had at least two stores close here in the last four months (which had great clearance sales) but so far it seems to have only affected stores which absolutely didnt have their shit together.

film industry is very different from music in a lot of ways so right now i dont think its killing it but just quickly clearing away the chaff. theres one gigantic used store here in town with tens of thousands of cds and probably a couple thousand dvds. over the last year im consistently noticing maybe one or two people browsing cds and the dvd section is almost crowded.

The real tragedy happened like fucking 14 years ago when all the mom n pop shops closed, there are now in some cities hipster video stores that treat video and dvd rentals of weeeIIIIIiieerd flicks as a luxury item. Well, all fucking video stores from 1978-1998 were just as badass, the biggest sections were always the horror, sci-fi and action with every exploitation flick imaginable, so fuck yous and your modern day netflix dilemma, you young punks don't know what tragedy means, you're all broke fags who can't afford netflix, eat meat cunt and loaf

on the upside wal-mart stores are losing out to amazon.com so I hope most retail and chain malls start vanishing off the map and people find other reasons to leave their house besides shopping, maybe a semblance of civilization might creep back into America (I mean, real America, not your faggoty hipster midtown bubbles)

in dallas the mom and pop stores i remember closing at that time all sucked except for porno. any mom and pop stores i knew of like youre referring to all became even more successful at that time because they did offer such a difference from chain stores.

the biggest hipster store here was founded in 1984 and actually that same year the one that just closed down was also founded. vulcan video is the other big hipster store but i cant find when they started.

what aspect of american civilization do you find to have changed so much with regards to leaving the house other than for shopping?

Over saturation shut down the few local video stores that closed. Blockbuster and Movie Gallery are still holding strong enough even if they are closing stores that are too close together. The Naro theater, indie cinema place, rents obscure stuff at reasonable prices to get that market. If you want to have a sweet shop, open your own. Customers will come.
