Sorry, Vegans: Brussels Sprouts Like to Live, Too By NATALIE ANGIER

But before we cede the entire moral penthouse to “committed vegetarians” and “strong ethical vegans,” we might consider that plants no more aspire to being stir-fried in a wok than a hog aspires to being peppercorn-studded in my Christmas clay pot. This is not meant as a trite argument or a chuckled aside. Plants are lively and seek to keep it that way. etc...
Are you kidding me? The New York Times?
Even if it weren't ridiculous to compare brussel sprout to pig...
LIVESTOCK EAT PLANTS THAT'S HOW THEY GROW IT TAKES MORE PLANTS TO MAKE PIG THAN TO JUST EAT THE PLANTS
I think the point is that animals are part of the same cycle as plants, as far as having a place of being the consumer and the substance to be consumed. It's fucking life. I think that's the problem with a lot of hard vegans. They seek to change a fundamental principal that all life is founded on. Better to try and move mountains with your mind.
That aside, vegans and others are absolutely right to criticize today's meat farming industry. That some nasty shit.
