I didn't know Homestar was so good with electronics.

Heavy Rain is way better than the demo made it seem, I'm loving it so far. I actually felt like an asshole when I drank the beer in the fridge instead of making dinner for my autistic son. and holy shit the opening credits with the different people around town was graphically amazing and more atmospheric than anything I can remember in a game. I can see the plot getting dumb later on but right now it's a 9/10.

pretty much, but it's still one of the best games I've ever playedSpooky Apparition wrote:I can see the plot getting dumb later on
can't wait to see where this genre takes future gaming
I think Riley touched on this but I was a little disappointed in lack of choices in dictating conversation and events, and even though I was playing on hardest setting I never once had trouble sequencing events and even started missing buttons on purpose (which is really lame) and even when I did miss the parts my character came out either still escaping situations or having nothing negative result which was really lame too
still I consider those only minor complaints and the experience was fucking awesome otherwise

When I saw the PS Move in action on G4, it actually looked interesting. Then again when they showed the whole fighting game, my first thought was, "I need to play that!" haha Anything that involves kicking someone's ass I usually want to play it. But I don't think the other part of the Move they displayed for Socom worked that well. Eh, we'll see more at E3.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)
So, I went to a Greek restaurant, drank lots o' wine and decided not to play ME2 on that night, instead this is what happened:
Bad Company 2 - Started it and got a good chunk of game play in. Something about it makes me like it more than Modern Warfare 2, so I'll give them that. What I won't give them, is that it seemed to me to be a lot of stand your ground/defend situations. The Bill is on offense, not defense. It made me LOL at times.
FEAR 2 - Don't know why, but the idea that playing this would be a good idea came while I was eating some grilled swordfish at the restaurant. I'll tell you what, after I very shaky start I ended up liking it more and more as time went on. Maybe I need a breath of older school FPS into the diet once and a while. Fucker even made me jump.... once. But, boy o boy, Monolith, must all your graphics engines chug so. And what is the obsession with the inside of office buildings, Die Hard envy?
Deadly Premonition - What can I say about this cluster fuck I paid almost nothing for. It had me hooked via story and atmosphere, but graphics and game play are borderline unacceptable. So, I try and convince myself I'm playing an original XBOX port of a Dreamcast game, and that makes some of the pain go away. I strange bird indeed. Unfortunately, a really shitty QTE caused my death, and being forced to re-play a large chunk again from the save point was the worse of my two options, the other being go to bed. This game becomes one of those oddities that I tell myself, "keep it on the shelf for now, one day I'll play it again." I think if he can get past a lot of the short comings, and there are many, this would be a game for Pisscubes, indeed.

Could we keep this thread free of God of War 3 talk? I will not be able to play the game for a couple months and I don't want to have anything spoiled for me. I'm pretty much avoiding any gaming site for the time being. I know there is a GOW3 thread and I am staying clear of that.

I plan on resurrecting the GOW3 thread once it's in my hands, though some East coasters will probably do that before I can. Fucking pumped. I've avoided all reviews and footage aside from the demo and the trailer.

man so far it keeps getting better. I'm about halfway through and am genuinely interested in what's going to happen. yeah it still might suck at the end but "interactive drama" is way better than I thought it would be. I was in my house alone playing the other night and I was freaked the fuck out the voice acting is also quite a bit better than I thought it would be, its only occasionally distracting so far.

How do game saves work in Heavy Rain?
I tend to only play through these types of games once, but reload after every decision point, and experience every scenario along the way.
I could see getting extremely annoyed having to play through the game multiple times just to experience the different endings...or fucking up one of the action events, and having to start all the way over again.

yeah the thing i loved about that game was how invested i was in the outcome. the first time i did the bear level, after i got out of the car and the level ended, i realized i was sweating and my teeth were clenched. there were a bunch more parts like that in the game where i was completely on edge about not fucking up because i had to save shaun.

hahah yeah same here. even the had me totally on edge. I hope the little sport makes out it okay...
Hypnagogia: you can reload any chapter as long as you've beaten it. they're usually about 10-15 minutes so trophy hunting/retrying a part shouldn't be too annoying.
