Tales from the Tank - post your local drunkard stories

A school bus driver and the supervisor who let her drive a bus full of children following a report the driver smelled of alcohol have both been fired.

The terminations came during last night's school board meeting in Mt. Prospect School District 57.

Last Tuesday, March 9, Betty Burden was arrested after police pulled over her bus and she was found to have a blood alcohol content almost three times the legal limit. By then, she had already dropped off some 50 children.

Parents immediately questioned why she was allowed to drive that day, given the fact another driver reported prior to the children boarding the bus that Burden smelled like alcohol.

According to the the School District's web site, which has set up an entire "Bus Incident" page. Burden's supervisor, Vince Ramirez, said he could not smell the alcohol and when he boarded Burden's bus. He said he didn't notice any signs of impairment, so he let Burden drive. However, he was the one who eventually called police.

Knew it would take about .2 seconds to finds something in the local paper. There's at least 2 stories per day every day about commoners, and about 1 per month that's a judge, lawyer, cop or elected official.
