Strangest bands you've met.

Post by VueeeuVueeeeuV »

I haven't met many bands, but do any folk here harbor tales of strange behavior from otherwise well regarded bands?

I've posted this before, but Helmuth from Belphegor was walking to the bar at the back of a venue and grabbed my friend's (it was a girl, notsofastfaggot) ass, stuck his tongue out, and flashed the horns. Say what you want about Belphegor, but they put on a good live show and are always joking around.

Stinking Lizevetta, make that their DOG, wandering into my bedroom at 7 AM.

Not often I wake up to a pitbull sauntering into my room.

A friend fucked the drummer on out bathroom floor (which is pretty gross if you'd seen it), then she broke my coffee pot.

Not exactly met, but one time I did pass the Gnarkill limo as it was parked on the street at a house about a half mile from my place. I didn't even know who Gnarkill was at the time, and have since learned that the gui who lives there is a pro skater or some such. That went a long way in explaining my unexpected brush with mediocrity.

I saw Finntroll in the dining car of the overnight express train from Helsinki to Moscow just over two years ago. Was tempted to say hi to them but my general indifference about the band just let me quietly observe them strain to get the attention of the surly Russian waiter.

edit: wrong thread....but whatever...

I went to the El Rey to go see Cinematic Orchestra like a year ago, I got there super early because I thought it might sell out and didn't wanna miss it. Got my ticket and hoofed it over to Fatburger to get some food. The place is cleanly split between Asians and black dudes. All the black dudes say "Yo man, good to see you still doin' it" and whatever to this same guy while all the Asians totally ignore him. It wasn't till he spoke that I recognized his instantly-recognizable voice, haha. I just said "Right on, dude" as I was leaving and he waved at me while he was eating.

Chris Holmes was jammin with some dude at our lock out for a couple months still tryin to live the dream. He's got the same busted IROC he's probably had since the 80's and he kept trying to intimidate me with stares. He told me he was in a band with Philthy Phil from Motorhead and I said that's cool and he said damn right that's cool.

In his autobiography, Slash claimed to have once got into a fight with Holmes in the 1980's, after Duff McKagan overheard Holmes saying "niggers shouldn't play guitar".

Since there's probably like 12 people to make enough money playing metal in/from the 80s - it's not too hard to find people like this...and oh boy is it never good. Things like fat, hair-loss, age, reality are the enemy of most aging metal dudes I've met. It's almost never not sad.

Caroliner stayed at my house in '90. Sun City Girls practiced on some of my gear before Charlie died in '05 ish. I had an awesome Cz dinner with Purulent Spermcanal and we went to the Zoo in Ostrava. Those are three of the weirdest bands I know.

I met Mick when Portal/Krallice did their tour, and he was totally friendly and lucid ... I was kind of disappointed. :?

Mike from Arctopus was pretty spacey (but super polite), though.
