there's one or two but they're mostly inoffensive. hell, you can kill the person you're escorting and they'll respawn
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

resistance 2 is fine for a week of fun shooting if that's all you're after but it's certainly not anything you can't miss out on

I don't generally expect to get significantly more than that out of a shooter. It's very rare that a game like Killzone 2 or Crysis 2 comes along where I actually feel compelled to play through the SP a bajillion times until I've done god-knows-what that keeps me coming back, much less seriously get into the multiplayer.

Sounds to me like R2/3 are worth picking up if I can get them cheap and there's nothing else to play, basically.

I was one of the few people who got bored with RE4. I don't even remember if I finished it. I DO know I sold it.

Also... apparently the "HD" is not really HD and the textures look like shit up close.

I'll never get sick of saying this - playing the Killzone 2 campaign was like crawling naked through a Bolt Thrower riff. The atmosphere was absolutely outstanding, the weapons felt dangerous (including the significant recoil that pissed a lot of people off) and the enemy AI was terrifying, especially on harder difficulties. Plus squad spawning made it so that the objective-based multiplayer actually worked, and I ended up sinking endless hours into it. KZ3 is missing pretty much all of that except the good AI. It's still a good game, but it tries way too hard to be nice to you.

Has there been any shooter better than RE4 since it was released?

I didn't think so. Let me know when it happens.

Care to elaborate?
All the games are mediocre and do absolutely nothing to stand out among the overcrowded shooter field. Dull and weak guns, been there done that setting, throwaway story, shitty mp. No one would give a shit about these games if they weren't exclusive. For $5, sure I'd play one but I curse the day I paid more than that for a Resistance game. If you're looking for a game to kill 5-10 hours, there are plenty of much better options than any Resistance game.

Gears of War 3 at $60 is a much better value than Resistance at $20, that's for sure.

I got the first Gears for free, and I still feel like I invested too much in it. What a fucking snoozefest that was.

Played through the Resistance 3 campaign last week and enjoyed myself, wouldn't pay full price for it but when it drops it's worth checking out. Probably the best of the series.

In gameplay style, I'd say Dead Space has captured the third person shooter horror genre pretty well. What are your feelings on the Racoon City game? They'll finally let you shoot and move! Haha
Resistance 2 as Riley said can be fun in the first week you get it, but its just mer. If you want trophies you can go with Resistance 2 over One, but I'd say pass. I bought the game and it sat for a year before I got rid of it.

i did that today as well although the at the store said they "can't guarantee me the collector's edition" :x

the only reason i preordered it there is because i'm broke-ish and i had store credit. if i find some money between now and then i'll cancel it and get it from amazon

nice case, art book, strategy guide, behind the scenes dvd, soundtrack, and it costs the same as the regular version

it's actually not totally breaking my heart if i don't get it since i'm only actually paying $30 for it, but it would be nice

Ahh ok. If per-order contained something like gauntlets of making the game easier I'd have to take immediate action myself.
