It's not a bad game, but it's not like the first one where I just felt compelled to play and play.
yeah i loved the first one and i think the second one is... decent ? it's really hard to remove it from comparison. more than anything else the city just seemed much less interesting and fun to cruise around in. also that they changed a bunch of the shit that made the first one so memorable and engaging-- going into the sewers and jumping through dangerous areas where death hangs in the balance to activate powers really made you excited to see what you would unlock next. this one just felt sort of perfunctory, oh you've hit 60% of the way through the game so jump through a couple hoops and you'll get a different colour lightning bolt
there were parts of the game that were pretty great; climbing that big ice tower and exploring the huge church were both neat, some of the side quests were pretty fun (the overcharge levels especially)-- but all that shit was sort of beside the point ? all the main shit was badly done. the story was pure cock as you say, i didn't care about any of the characters, the gameplay suffered in the "upgrade", and the design of the city was boring and not conducive to fun gaming. and all the boss battles were just sort of like, uh what ? why did this seem like a good idea ? oh and the new cole's mushmouth. i didn't even bat an eye when i first heard they had a new voice actor because who cares ? but holy fuck that guy was terrible.
i feel like i'm overdoing the shit-talk because the game was probably somewhere between a 6 and 7/10, but i really did have high hopes for it and it just felt like a real fumbled job.
