I'm about 3/4 done with Infamous.
Game is extremely repetitive

The only question that I thought was hard was do I like Kirk, or do I like Picard?

it really is. i don't understand how people finish it. there's only like 4 types of missions repeated 5694 times
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

If anyone wants to sell Dead Space 2 on PS3 I will be happy to buy. I will only need/want it during August/September so we could do a mail-loan as well. PM me?

I couldn't (then again, that goes for just about every sandbox game). Clearing out those damned gangs got so tedious and if you didn't, you'd get shot up just traversing the city.copstache wrote:it really is. i don't understand how people finish it. there's only like 4 types of missions repeated 5694 times

Doable if you like the game. I have limited time for playing games (2 kids, work, house, etc), it takes me one to two weeks to finish a normal length game and I still played Fallout 3, it took me like 2 or 3 months.Luca Blight wrote:so, I'm starting school full time next month, and will be working two jobs in the meantime, and I'm thinking about finally playing Oblivion after all these years....mistake?

maybe you should wait until you've played a little bit more than a little bit of the games before drawing your conclusionsPisscubes wrote:I played a little bit of each game

but you didn't even mention what your first impression was besides that it was not as good as infamous ?
what's not as good ? is it the controls ? the story ? the missions ? the design ? that would be a discussion
not just shaking your emoticon cop stick at me like a jerk

ok well forgetting your act of unwarranted harassment, otherwise that's how grown-ups communicate
i thought the combat was much more fun and engaging in prototype, more options, a lot more convincing of being involved
the city opens up a lot and i had a lot of fun exploring it but this was something infamous did very well so i dunno i could definitely waffle on which did this better
the story in both the games was pretty stupid but really who cares about what skeletal stupid interchangeable story they hang the gameplay on imho

Alpha Protocol > Metal Gear Solid 4. I'll fight to the death over that.Pisscubes wrote:Alpha Protocol: Yawn.
Metal Gear 4: So far, so good. Except for the fact that you basically don't play for the first half hour of the game. Look, dude, if you want to make a movie, go make a movie. This is game. But... yeah... still fun.

Meanwhile, I think I'm at the end of the first town district of Infamous 2. I think aside from the story being kind of lame, part of the problem with this game is that more and smaller town sections was actually a good idea. At least from what I remember, it just created more of a sense of progression. In the second I kind of feel like I've been farting around forever and I could honestly barely tell you what's happened so far other than I've been looking for these blast cores and the black chick is pissed at me because I'm a goody two-shoes. It's a real shame too because the actual gameplay is better and the visuals are pretty awesome too, but it's kind of like they just made the same game again with some smart tweaks to the mechanics and better side missions, but then nobody could think of a story.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
Fuck that, man... I remember sitting down to play the game and I had a bottle of wine, ready to drink as I played. Well, I hit than damn cut scene, and when it was over I was almost done with a second bottle of wine and too drunk to play (probably didn't eat, I do that). I threw a fit because It wasted my time, and then the next morning I can't even remember the cut scene because I got drunk and I will not sit through it again. So, fuck that game.Krieg wrote:Hey Pisscubes, wait until you reach the 90 minutes cut scene.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
Wasn't that more like three cutscenes in a row, though? I remember at some point there's a long closing cutscene to a level, then one of those endless "mission briefings" and an opening cutscene to the next level, and all that added up to about 90 minutes.
At least that's what I remember from last time. There's also the one where Big Mama narrates the entire history of the MGS universe as a few character sketches float across the screen, that's a pretty long one too, but I just skipped over it the last time because seriously, go fuck yourself, Kojima-san.
